Welcome to live and work with us on Jädra Farm, 45 kilometers from Stockholm and 35 km from Uppsala! We are Linda and Torbjörn and have lived on the farm since 1993. Our four children are now grown up but often come to visit. We are very internationally interested and have lived and worked in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Ever since moving to our farm, we have tended to our pastures and forests and since 2020 we are also cultivating the land. Our vision is to create a diversified farm, with high biodiversity and as climate friendly as possible. We grow old Swedish traditional varieties (heritage grains)of wheat, rye, spelt, oats and peas and buckwheat, We also grow plants for oil making like turnip rape, camelina and hemp. We also test different legumes like lupins and lentils. A third of the land is in green manure to enrich the soils for the future. Our farm is organically Swedish and EU certified. We have established agroforestry, a wetland, created insect habitats and restored old grazing land, among others. We have a nine year crop rotation to grow as many crops as possible for crop and soil health, and agroforestry is ready to start. Our high biodiversity value pastures are grazed by cows, sheep and horses, owned and tended to by others. The forests are developing to resemble natural forests and we do most of that reshaping work ourselves. This is just the start and we are constantly discussing how to proceed and what the future shall look like. We believe in close contacts between people and also our customers, so we dry, clean, process (two mills and an oilpress) and package all products at home in small scale. When staying with us, what you do will depend on your interests and which activities are ongoing for the moment. Just to mention some areas: • There are building projects. You can help with painting, carpentry and repairs. • Cleaning, packaging and selling our products. • Planting herbs, bushes and trees for biodiversity and maintaining the wetland • Forest work • Fencing • Occasional work in our home garden • If you are experienced in agriculture, there are also regular farm activities, like planting and harvesting, using our tractors. • And of course a lot of different farm activities that we have forgotten for the moment. Tell us your interests and we will try to accommodate them, depending on the season. You will be staying in our house in one of the bedrooms upstairs. There is also a bathroom upstairs, which will be for our visitors. We will share kitchen and take turns preparing the vegan meals, while we provide all food – of course as much as possible from the farm and organic. We do not have specific working hours, we will agree with you when you come, but follow the idea that you work on average 5-6 hours a day on weekdays. You will have plenty of time to visit our beautiful surroundings, Stockholm and other places, we are happy to give you information. You can go swimming in nearby lakes, borrow a bicycle or our inflatable canoe. You are smoke free and have cats! We look very much forward to meeting and sharing experiences with you! Organic methods: Green manure, certified according to Swedish and EU organic standards, biodiversity, natural forestry, crop rotation, weed control, soil improvements Certifications: KRAV and EU organic Current projects: Agro-processing plant - small scale, storage and drying of products, wetland, agro-forestry (minor, in upstart), propagating old culture varieties, marketing and selling, farm buildings, on-farm unmanned shop, receiving visitors to the farm demonstrate biodiversity and climate friendly agriculture (we will prepare some facilities for this) Internet access available

I spent one month on Linda and Torbjörn’s farm, but it felt like just one week. I had such a great time. They are very welcoming and kind people. I never felt homesick, I truly felt like part of the family. We shared many delicious vegan meals with the neighbours and sometimes their children. I discovered lots of amazing vegan and Swedish recipes made with their own products. I especially recommend Torbjörn’s hummus! As for the work, it was really interesting to learn about the whole process of flour and oil production : from harvesting to cleaning, milling, and packing. Their explanations were very clear, and I could feel their passion. It’s inspiring to see how they’ve made their farm more and more biodiversity-friendly through agroforestry, wetlands, and of course by being organic. The amount of work they do, all in a sustainable way, is truly impressive. I also enjoyed my free time walking in the forest, going to the lake, resting with their cat Leah and visiting nearby cities. I really recommend this experience! It was my first WWOOFing experience, and I couldn’t have dreamed of a better one. I’m so grateful. Tack så mycket :)

First WWOOF experience for about two weeks, shared also with other two kind wwoofers, all being hosted in the owners' house. We had a morning meeting at 8:30 to plan daily activities, than I proceeded working the expected five hours in a flexible and peaceful way. The owners were extremely clear and patient to teach and help with everything in English, also giving in to Swedish since I like and I am learning it. Some activities were: cleaning various seeds with machines and manually, making flour and porridge out of them, packing products and delivering them in a little farmers' market meeting, repairing fences around the fields. Dinner was prepared for everyone in turn by each one and it was the moment to enjoy time together, laughing, sharing stories and thoughts, learning a lot about agriculture (organic and not), farming and sustainability in a wide meaning. I was also given the opportunities to go together with the owners to Uppsala for Valborg and to meet their children, so I felt really like being in a family. Plus, I appreciated a lot the nature and the clean air in the countryside, as well as the possibility to reach the near cities of Stockholm and Uppsala to visit them. I am very grateful for and enriched by this experience, thanks Linda and Torbjörn.

We spend almost one whole month at Linda and Torbjörns farm and in the end we were just sad to leave. It was better than we imagined. They both are really caring about there guests and try to make sure that you feel welcome and home which we really felt. To stay that amount of time was really great because you get to know each other, the farm and the work quite well, so you can more and more work independent and it feels like you´re making an impact. There were a lot of differnet tasks and it was fun to learn so many sides of farmworking from planting to milling and packing and selling the final products. They explain a lot and when you´re interested you can always ask them about anything and will get detailed answers. Beside the work we had a lot of funny and interesting conversations about the world, farms and families and it was always very pleasant to talk to them. We can´t complain about anything. It was just great and lovely and we hope to get back someday for a visit or a longer stay. (And we´ll miss the cat Lea who is very cuddly and cute.) So all in all big recommendation! Thank you so much Linda and Torbjörn! :)

I am very grateful for our time with Linda and Torbjörn. I was able to learn so much that interested and inspired me - from cleaning the ancient grains to grinding and packaging. Making pancakes from just 2 ingredients and vegan still fascinates me. :) Her joy, her confidence, her attitude and her work really touch me. Also the cuddly cat Leah and the cute sheep and lambs (which are not theirs), as well as the nice neighbors who also showed us new things, were a wonderful enrichment of our 2 weeks. If our luggage hadn't already been so full, I would have taken all the products made on the farm with us on our further journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have spent an incredible week on this farm. Linda and Torbjörn are two amazing hosts, truly welcoming and kind. I have done many new tasks I have never done before, which were very enjoyable. These were primarily cleaning and packing their products, which ended up turning the house into a factory. I am also very happy that I have made some flour using the mill, and got used to using the brush cutter. In my free time, I enjoyed nice bike rides, and along with another woofer we ended up swimming in one of the lakes nearby. Additionally, keep in mind that the cat will be always around asking for food or cuddles, so you have to give her both. Finally, thank you so much both Linda and Torbjörn for making my stay there so wonderful and memorable, I really hope I come back again!
