Family home and garden - rural
Södermanland
We are a retired couple, ex teachers, living in a tiny village 20 km from Nyköping and Vagnhärad.
We pick up at both places. Vagnhärad is a 45 minute train ride from Stockholm. Our property includes around 7 ha of forest where we harvest firewood and timber for our house building project. Our five children left home years ago but visit with our 7 grandchildren frequently. Regine moved to Sweden from Germany a long time ago, and we are often visited by friends and relatives from there, which sometimes is tricky to coordinate time-wise with our much appreciated WWOOf guests.
Since years we have been building a new house from scratch on the property and since August 2024 we now live in it. There is still plenty of work around, landscaping, fixing up an old stable, taking care of the bees, harvesting, hauling, cutting and splitting firewood and sawing timber from our forest in our small saw mill. We have a vegetable garden and currently two bee hives. Our cat is rarely to be seen, but our dog, Schapendoes, is all the more active around our feet. Our property overlooks a lake only a few minutes away on foot.
Organic methods: Garden uses only biological methods with compost + mulching.
Certifications: Hobby large scale sour dough bakery, uses only organic flour but is not certified.
Current projects: Heating solely with firewood from our own grounds + small solar collector for hot water. Processing timber in our own small saw mill. A small vegetable garden gives us much appreciated greens. Three bee-hives make us self-sufficient in honey + some to sell.

Per and Regine are very friendly, you can talk about every topic with them. They try the best that you have a good stay there. The work was quite fun, chopping wood, cleaning the barn and some gardening work. The scenery is amazing and you can explore the surounding nature very good. If you want to go to a nearby city, i would recommend to take the bus from Tystberga Trafikplats. I would definetely recommend this place!

We are absolutely glad to have the opportunity to meet Regine and Per.
We all shared time and interesting activities with energy and discovered a lot about the surroundings of the area they live in but also about life in Sweden and its history. Easy to say, they are very kind and respectful listeners and we can say this is the kind of experience every woofer should have.
Thank you again!

Had a very pleasant stay with Per and Regine who are very welcoming hosts. We cooked and talked a lot. There's a lots of different activities available so that leaves very little opportunity to get bored! Carrying wood around can get pretty physical sometimes. There are also woodcutting machines and various vehicles to maintain/repair. Overall I learned a lot about woodcutting, building, and about the Swedish life as a whole.
Bogsta is pretty remote and quiet. There were several visits from Per and Regine's children or neighbours and they are all very nice folks. There are several locations of interest that can be reached by bike: Öster Malma, Nynas slott, Stendörren, and I recommend all of those.

From the beginning I felt as if I was part of the family, no more, no less =).
Per and Regina are very natural and honest people and, even if work can be physically demanding sometimes, I always knew what were we doing and why, so it was actually a good opportunity to make some exercise... with a purpose, something that not so usually happens when you live in an urban environment. Also my mind could always run on its own, so even splitting wood can be a very intellectual activity ;D.
Sometimes, one of their sons and his girlfriend came to work on the new house they were building; they were also very nice people, easy to live with, and the dogs are super friendly (if you like dogs, of course). There's also a cat living next to the working place, that is also friendly and nice company during the working hours. In the off time, the lake is two steps far from the house, but there are more places to walk longer distances, so everything is possible =D.
I'm definitely missing this place, and I hope I could return in the future. Our deep philosophical conversations were the best, and I could met some very nice and funny people =). I would recommend this place either for single WWOOFers or friends going together, but as it's quite an old house the best is going with people you already know, or just alone.
If you plan to WWOOF in Sweden and enjoy a familiar environment, this is definitely the place to be. 100% recommended.
