***English Below*** Hej! **** Hi! We welcome WWOOFers from March onwards! We’re Peter and Emma, and for many years we dreamed of having our own farm. We eventually made the move from Stockholm to the countryside and started building our farm here, while at the same time starting a family. Today, our life is very much a combination of farm life and life with our two young daughters, who are four and five years old and who fill the days with life, curiosity, and a sense of discovery around the farm. I’m a dedicated biodynamic small-scale farmer running an organic and regenerative operation. The heart of my project is to work the land in harmony with nature with a particular focus on closing cycles, producing local and sustainable food such as eggs and honey directly for consumers, and continuously developing the farm’s systems to build long-term fertility and biodiversity. In addition to our family, our household and farm life consist of a range of animals that each play their own important roles in the operation - from our rotating flock of up to 300 free-range hens in our mobile chicken tractors to the beehives that pollinate the land and provide us with the farm’s own honey. Our main agricultural activities are based on regenerative and organic principles. We run a commercial flock of up to 300 free-range hens with mobile chicken tractors that are moved regularly for grazing and natural fertilization, manage beehives and honey production, and grow vegetables using minimal tillage and direct sales. During your time WWOOFing here, I want to teach you practical experience of regenerative animal husbandry, small-scale farm-to-table food production, and a closed-loop approach without synthetic fertilizers or chemical pesticides. At the moment, we don’t have a guesthouse, but instead offer accommodation in your own caravan here on the farm. The caravan has two private rooms, so it works well for two WWOOFers who each want their own room. It can also accommodate more people if you are a couple or friends who are happy to share a room. There is electricity in the caravan, but no running water. There is a bathroom upstairs in the main house that you are welcome to use, as well as a toilet in the basement (although currently without a door...). It’s simple, but it works well and gives you a cozy and very close experience of farm life. With us, you become part of the family. We share our meals together inside the house, and we enjoy having WWOOFers become part of everyday life here. We are looking for WWOOFers who are child-friendly and trustworthy. Since you will be living closely with our family and our two young daughters, it is important to us that you are comfortable around children and respectful of family life. A typical day might look like this: Breakfast from 7-8:00 Lunch from 11-12:00 Dinner at 17:00
Task will start after breakfast and again after lunch. For max. 5 hours per day.
You will have 2 days off a week. Your main role will be to help with all the routines - all the daily things that need to be done again and again to keep the farm running. This includes taking care of the animals, feeding and watering, collecting eggs, moving equipment, helping with the vegetable garden, and other practical jobs around the farm. The work varies with the season, but a big part of your time will be helping with these recurring everyday tasks. You don’t need to have extensive farming experience. What matters most to us is that you are responsible, willing to learn, and happy to get stuck into practical work. Alongside farming, we are passionate about self-sufficiency, cooking from scratch, and experimenting with what the farm produces. There will be plenty of time to take care of the harvest, bake, work with crafts, and tinker with machinery or building projects. Nearby and things to do The farm is beautifully situated just north of Uppsala, close to both forest, nature, and the hiking trails of Uppland. There are plenty of lovely places for hiking, picking mushrooms, and going on day trips. If you want to swim, there are nice lakes and bathing spots within a reasonable distance, and if you want city life or culture, Uppsala is just a little way away, with a great selection of history, cafés, and museums.
