Vegetable farm, preservation and fermentaion of vegetables
Södermanland
The hosts
We, Malin and Martin, have been growing vegetables on this farm for nearly 20 years now. Nearly from the beginning we have had wwoofers with us, which has been a fantastic enrichment of our lives.
And now we are so excited to have Sarah, one of our first wwoofers, return to our farm last summer and actually staying and working with us permanently.
The farm and production
2007 we started an organic and biodynamic vegetable garden on a small holding about 80 km south of Stockholm. It’s situated in between lakes and forests and there are a lot of wild animals around like deer, wild pigs and elks.
We grow around 20 different vegetables on ca 2 ha and we have a greenhouse with tomatoes. We sell to private customers via a boxing system, which people subscribe to and get a bag of vegetables delivered to a pick-up point. We also sell as part of a farmers cooperative to shops, restaurants and schools. In the autumn we take part at the farmers market scheme in Stockholm. A little is also sold to neighbours in our little farm shop. From October we even start with lactic acid fermentation like sauerkraut. We both work fulltime on the farm.
The working team
We, who work on the farm are Malin and Martin together with our part time employees Sarah, Xavier and Kristian. Martin comes originally from England and Malin from Germany with swedish roots, our two children Fabian (27) and Oliver (24) live in Stockholm now. We've been in Sweden since 2003. Since a few years now we even have Kristian and Xavier working with us part time. New for 2025 is that our former wwoofer Sarah is joining our team, together with her dog Molle. Also Malins mother lives in a house on the farm.
The work
The main work on our farm consists of gardening according to season: In April, May and June there is a lot of sowing, planting, watering and general preparations, then comes weeding in June and July and in July we start harvesting and packing orders till the end of the season at the end of November. Sometimes there are also other things that need doing like preparing wood for next winters fuel, painting etc. Most of the time we work together as a team, but there are times you need to do things on your own/with other wwoofers.
Gardening methods
We are a certified organic and biodynamic vegetable garden.
The basics in organic and biodynamic farming is that we take care of the soil and the life in it, since this is the basics for all life. We want to make sure that the soil can regenerate and even get better by increasing the humus content by binding C0 2 from the air, something very important in times of climate change. To achieve that, we practice crop rotation, use a lot of green manure (like clover plants), use composts to enrich the soil, use the biodynamic preparations for healthy and resilient plants and grow a lot of different plants to stimulate biodiversity.
Wwoofers on the farm
We have room for 3-5 wwoofers from May till November. We'd like you to stay a minimum of 3-4 weeks or longer, as we find that this is beneficial both for you and us. Having wwoofers on the farm has been a tremendously rewarding experience and it does give us life quality in so many ways: Apart from making our work easier and making it possible to work a little less, it's so fantastic to meet so many interesting people from all over the world, getting to know them, their culture, the way they think, and it brings life and sociability to us. The evening meal is one of the highlights of the day, with different food inspirations from the different people, and time for discussions and fun.
The accommodation
Accomodation is provided in different places, we have a holiday house that will be available from July.
Before that, we have a loft room with simple standard and a couple of caravans. There is also a kitchen/common room in the barn for your breakfast and lunch, There is a separate building with, toilet, shower and washing maschine.
Working hours
You’ll be working with us with the things that are needed each day, mond-fri 8-15.30. Every week we have a planning meeting, so everyone knows what's happening on the farm the following week. At the weekend you are free to do walks, excursions, visit Stockholm or just relax.
Food and meals
Breakfast and lunch you eat on your own together with the other wwoofers in the common room. For that we provide a vegetarian diet.
The evening meal we eat together during the week. We take turns with cooking, which means that you will also be cooking the evening meal once a week. For varies reasons we eat a vegan and glutenfree diet. If you're not familiar with it, we can help you with recepies for cooking.
Since we are food nurds and environment idealists, there is usually some talk about food and why we have chosen this lifestyle.
After work activities
There is a lake nearby where you can go swimming in the summer or use our little rowing boat, It is very peaceful here and walking and cycling are very enjoyable. Most wwoofers take even some trips to Stockholm and other towns nearby. From august till the end of October you can get a lift to Stockholm and back on Saturdays, when we go to the market.
We are all interested in music, we play some instruments and like singing. We also enjoy going to swedish traditional dances occasionally, there you can join if you feel like it.
We're looking forward to meeting lots of nice people from around the world, as we've done for the past 18 years. We think it is wonderfull! Thanks to everyone that has been here and enriched our lives!

I really recommend wwoofing here! I worked here for almost 2 months. Here you live in the middle of the forest. You harvest many different vegetables and package them. I liked harvesting the most. The fields are huge, and you can harvest pumpkins, cabbage, chard, black kale, green kale, carrots, corn, beet root and much more. There is also a greenhouse where you harvest tomatoes.
You will also learn how to make sauerkraut and kimchi, and experience the fermentation process.
I have never enjoyed eating vegetables and salad as much as I did on this farm, it was so delicious!
I felt very connected to nature and learned a lot about farm life here. The farmers here are very funny and friendly. As others have said in their reviews, it was also for me one of the best experiences of my life!

I spent four weeks on this beautiful farm and had a great experience. We learned a lot about harvesting, packing, fermentation and storage, while enjoying cultural exchange and improving our English.
Malin and Martin are wonderful hosts, welcoming and inspiring, and the whole team is kind and fun. I highly recommend this farm to anyone looking for both learning and a warm community in nature.

At Peter Lund, I think that for now I can say that it has been one of the best experiences as a volunteer, a fantastic and super nice team, an unbeatable environment, and the best place to learn about agriculture, thanks, Malin, Martin and Sarah.

It was so wonderful to volunteer at Peterslunds with Malin and Martin. I learned so much and had such a great time with everyone on the farm. The work was fun and fulfilling and Malin did a great job making sure our tasks were varied. Cooking with vegetables we harvested then eating with everyone and having great conversation was so fun. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful and super peaceful. I am so glad I came to this farm and I would definitely recommend volunteering here. Thank you again Malin and Martin for one of the best experiences of my life. I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend a month. You are such kind people and you have a beautiful farm!

First of all i'd wholeheartedly with love to recommend this farm to whoever reads this review. This was my first time Woofing. They are part of the leadership group for farms in Sweden so you won't get overworked or anything like that. For people who are not vegan they are willing to get certain non-vegan foods (but certainly not meat though). Even if they're no other Woofers there, there is plenty to do and the surroundings are wonderful with lots of nature. I decided to come for 5 weeks from mid May to mid June so I really liked seeing the transition between Spring and Summer and eventually I had the pleasure to see Midsummer (which everyone should witness at least once in their life). When I was there, it was labelling, packing, sowing, planting, weeding and even making a big structure made of wood for use during the colder months. Malin and Martin are incredible hosts (you'll meet lots of other people too) and quite a big mix of different cultures here such as English, German and French (but especially German though!) You will certainly not regret Woofing here and a great introduction to the world of sustainable farming. I have fond memories of this place and the people there
