Growing over 90 different vegetables using permaculture principles selling to the Local Markets
Västra Götaland
Welcome to our farm, located 20 km south of Falköping! We are Maria and Sven-Åke, living here with our friendly cat, dog, goats, and chickens. Our two adult children live nearby, and we’re also lucky to have two grandchildren who often come by to visit.
This family-run farm has been passed down through generations and has been organically managed since 1996, proudly holding a KRAV ecological certification.
What We Do
We grow over 90 varieties of vegetables, herbs, spices, fruits, and berries, following organic and permaculture principles. Our produce is sold at a local market in Falköping, in our garden shop, and through Reko-rings, a community-based system where we advertise available produce on social media, take orders, and deliver to designated market days in up to five surrounding towns.
During summer weekends, we open the garden to visitors and operate a cozy, simple summer café.
When We Need Help
We are looking for extra hands between late April and September to assist with:
Planting, weeding, spreading grass clippings as mulch, and harvesting vegetables.
Packaging and selling produce at markets.
General maintenance and renovation projects, including carpentry, house painting, and firewood preparation.
If you have skills with tools or enjoy hands-on tasks, we’d love your help with construction work or building renovations, such as converting an old hen house into a new exhibition or accommodation space.
Living Arrangements
We provide accommodation in a cozy, rustic room in our barn building, equipped with electricity and a wood burner. The room has two beds, so you may share it with another volunteer. We hope this is alright with you!
We share meals together, often eating outdoors on the porch. Maria loves cooking and prepares mainly traditional Swedish dishes using homegrown or locally sourced ingredients. (We are not vegetarians.)
Our workdays typically start at 9:30 a.m. and end by 5:30 p.m. We ask for five days of contribution per week.
Beyond the Farm
If you’re interested, we’re happy to take you on local sightseeing trips around our area, a region rich with fascinating history and natural beauty.
For Swedish volunteers, we also offer short one- or two-day opportunities where you can gain hands-on experience and learn more about permaculture and farming.
Why Join Us?
By staying with us, you’ll have the chance to:
Learn about farming and permaculture.
Immerse yourself in Swedish traditions.
Work with a variety of organic methods, including cover cropping and permaculture practices.
Enjoy life in the countryside with home-cooked meals and the opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings.
Additional Information
We have internet access available.
Our certifications: KRAV, Kiwa.
Current projects: Building an orchard, maintaining buildings, and converting the old hen house into an exhibition/accommodation space.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you.
Welcome to the farm!

We spent 10 wonderful days with the Wardin family! They were all incredibly kind and showed us so many places in the area, which really helped us discover and appreciate life in the Swedish countryside. The work was rewarding and educational, and never too heavy. We spent lots of time chatting with everyone, especially with Maria, who was so kind and caring. The farm is absolutely beautiful and we highly recommend visiting!

A huge thank you to the Wardin family !
We weren’t supposed to meet, but fate had other plans. After a difficult experience at another farm, they kindly welcomed us into their home, and what a blessing that turned out to be! From the very first moment, they made us feel like part of the family.
Elisa and I feel incredibly lucky to have shared so many beautiful moments with them. We spent Easter together, laughed a lot, and enjoyed countless unforgettable memories. This family is truly amazing, so full of love, kindness, and generosity.
The vibe here is just magical. There’s always joy in the air, people up for fun, laughter, and good times. We truly felt like we belonged there.
We also got to learn so much about bees, hives, permaculture... and Maria even took us to visit a nearby farm with cows and horses that work in the forest. Such a cool experience!
Thank you for all the unforgettable moments, we’ll carry them in our hearts forever !
Special thank you to Maria, Sven-Åke, Mathilda, Simon, Leo, and Åriel.
If you ever get the chance to visit this farm, don’t hesitate! It’s an experience you’ll never forget.

I stayed for the whole of August at Marias & Sven-Åkes farm, together with another woofer, and it was the best first woofing experience I could have wished for.
They really treated us as part of the family and let us take part in plenty community activities. Maria & Sven-Åke are excited to share swedish culture how they know it, which was exactly what I was looking for.
I hope I can return, maybe during a different month to learn more about swedish permaculture. The work was fun and there were enough breaks during the day to take a rest.
I definitely recommend staying here, especially for first time wwoofers!

I spent the whole of August on Maria and Sven Åke's farm and had a really great time. They were very welcoming, always grateful for the work of the Wwoofer and fully integrated us into their family life (but only as much as was ok for us). The tasks to be done were very varied (harvesting, painting a barn, weeding, cutting raspberries...) and we were also very flexible in the way they were carried out. The breaks were not neglected either, so that the entire work was very relaxed.
I would definitely recommend the farm, especially if it's your first wwoofing experience, as it was for me.

My time on the farm was very great! What a lovely family!
I learned a lot about farming, permaculture and the Swedish culture. It was a warm welcome with them if you where part of their family. With the traditions, the visits to the swimming lake, handcraft market and nature reserve.
It was great to work at the garden, to pick hallon and other berries and vegetables. And to make a hyggelbed. To see how fast everything is growing! wow. But is was also a holiday, it was not 'busy', there was always time for a fika or for a talk.
Thank you for the time that i spend on the farm!! I hope I can visit you the next time when i visit Sweden.
