Eco Retreat
Halland
Sörby retreatcenter is a sustainable small scale farm, placed in a beautiful open landscape, 15 min east from Falkenberg. It has been built/restored since 2001 and was fully open from 2011. The mainbuilding has room for 9 beds and the older building for 10 beds. The idea has been to create a sustainable meetingpoint, close to the nature where the nature is here the central source for well-being. The farm is being used for different courses, conferenses, bed and breakfast, summercafé - and primary for green rehabilitation for people with stress diseases and similar. Here we use garden therapy, since this is the most efficient way back to health. The energy sources are solar energy and wood pellets fuel, parts in windmills and our car is driven by erdgas.

I had a great time staying with Liselotte and Vagn! They were very friendly and helpful and also patient, as I didn’t have any experience with garden work. I helped planting flower beds, harvesting tomatoes and chilis and collecting leaves. It was something different everyday. I learned a lot (hopefully I have my own garden someday). The house and the food were great! I also went on some nice rides out with their daughter. It was my first wwoofing experience and a really positive one.

I was able to stay with Vagn and Liselotte for 10 days. It was a wonderful time! The vegetarian food was very varied and delicious! At work, I did a lot of weeding, but also other things. Sometimes the work required a bit of discipline, but I liked that! Liselotte and Vagn supported my work with a lot of patience and praise. The two of them and their daughter are very kind people full of positive energy!
I am very grateful for this time!

This was our first wwoof experience and it was amazing. Liselotte an Vagn are both very kind, curious and hard working people. They showed us around, teached us new things and had a lot of trust in us, which gave us a very nice feeling. We had to do different kinds of work, so it was something new everyday. We also have to mention that the volunteers have a beautiful own home! Also the surroundings are great. The forests, the beach…We were very glad that we could use bikes from the hosts, otherwise you are a little lost without an own car(if you want to travel more). But Liselotte and Vagn are also there to help if you want to get anywhere. All in all we recommend this place! It‘s a great farm to connect with nature and animals and also get to know about the swedish culture and farm life.
Just go there:)

I stayed with Liselotte and Vagn for two weeks. It was a very pleasant stay. Wwoofers have a nice house of their own. It was warm (heated), clean and comfortable. I worked with clay, cut timber, and did a lot of work in the greenhouse and garden. Liselotte and Vagn gave me a very warm welcome. They were open, kind and very relaxed. They told me exactly what to do and were very helpful in every matter. Daily Meeting in the morning gave a good overview on the days requirements. I learned a lot on clay work, and gardening. Food was wonderful. With a bike I did some rides round Sörby. They took me to a lake, to midsommar party and had some music in the evening. I will be back!!!

We loved our stay with Liselotte and Vagn! They were incredibly generous with both lodging and food, and infinitely patient as we learned new skills on the farm. They were both incredibly kind, very organized, and very wise. We will always look back at our time at Sörby fondly!

I really appreciated living on Vagn & Liselotte farm and their dogs. My stay lasted a bit more than 1½ months (or a bit more than 7 weeks; September-October mainly).

I am grateful to them, for I barely had any experience (beside very basic stuff), and they were kind and very patient. Liselotte makes incredibly good food, and she helped me improve my Swedish. Vagn is always doing something (well they both are), and seems to always have a building project, which is inspiring (and he plays bass with his band !).

During this time I did multiple things :
Remove strawberries and other various plants (winter is coming !), pick up various potatoes, various tomatoes, pepper, yellow beans, or simply leaves, pick up apples & do a bit of apple juice, cut the grass, cut vines, pick up branches, water plants, get their outside-retreat stuff inside (winter!), weeding, help picking up cut down trees, cut a bit of wood for a floor, cut firewood, remove paint from a door & sand it, go unpack/throw various stuff to recycling center, cut low-plants, pick up mushrooms in a beautiful Swedish forest (<3), pickup pumpkins, repair private roads, remove big stones from soil, remove tomato plants, remove grass around greenhouse, vacuum, observing sheep herding ( :O ).
Props to the other family members I met, neighbors (A & P), and J & J & C & co (vinskydd & verkstad !).
