Skärvagård is situated in the middle of a nature reserve with open fields, pastures and deciduous forests next to a bay of the Baltic Sea, and the farming land has been chemical-free for 40 years. There are a few hiking trails in the area ranging between 1.5 and 9 km.  We have a vegetable garden under development where we as more or less beginners are learning and trying out different organic growing methods, with permaculture and no dig, biodynamic and vegan gardening as main inspirations. Intentions with the garden: a pedagogic display garden for visitors and guided tours, create a vivid vibrant milieu for both us people and insects to thrive,  produce vegetables and fruit & berries for our eco shop and café and for ourselves. In summer season we sometimes have our small vegan café and lunch restaurant open. Our eco shop is open year round. We have a small conference room, “Solsalen”, where there now and then are different events going on. During summer there are also other localities in the big barns available for events to happen. Past years there have been yoga classes, free dance sessions, massage courses, work conferences, wellness festivals, art exhibitions, concerts, Tai chi courses, lectures and courses in Martinus spiritual science... In winter we focus more on inside activities and planning, but between March and November most activities are outside.  Who are we?  At the farm live Henrik and Karin. Our ambition is to have respect and love for all life - people, our organisms, animals, plants, nature, our planet.. We like to  inspire people to a healthy lifestyle and are both inspired of deeper spiritual thinking. Sometimes we also have more persons living at the farm, and sometimes people living nearby work here. What kind of work are we mostly doing and what is needed around here?  In the garden:  Preparing the soil, working with compost and bokashi, seeding, growing, weeding, covering soil, harvesting, drying, working in the greenhouses. We work as much as possible with ‘green’ or vegan types of compost and experiment with different possibilities for creating our own soil. We try as much as possible ”no digging” and cover all soil to keep the moist and for the nutrition of the soil. We use mainly rain water for watering and have an ongoing project of completing our rainwater harvesting system. Sometimes we do work with landscaping in nature reserve. For the future we have intentions to recreate a bigger wetland in one of the fields, and  create a small forest garden. Buildings: We need more space for both sleeping and different activities and hope this year to be able to build a new small house for overnight stay at the farm, and step up in taking better care of our wooden buildings. Indoor activities: cleaning, making it nice and cozy, vegan cooking, making the dishes, preparing for workshops.   Who are we searching for?  Knowledge in organic growing/gardening and skills in carpenting / building / painting are very welcome, but not necessary. Interest and willing to learn, an open heart and mind is the most important. We appreciate people who are flexible in working in different areas of the farm such as garden, forest, kitchen and buildings. The work is around 6 hours a day, 5 days a week (plus 4 hours a week in common areas like cleaning, making dishes, cooking common meals. ) It would be nice if you can stay here for 4 weeks or longer, but we also can welcome shorter stays during busy periods. What about sleeping, eating and washing?  You have your own room in “Torpet”, our guesthouse, where there are six bedrooms. You share the kitchen and bathroom in Torpet. There is also space for putting up a tent.  Sometimes during short periods there can be other guests renting rooms in Torpet. We want to keep the place free from drugs incl. alcohol, perfumes, smoke, incense and wifi. (Free internet via cables is offered) We have a sensitive biological sewage system. Due to that and because we care for people who are sensitive to smells and odors, we ask you to only use organic hygienic products and cleaning products that we offer you. You are offered to use our bed linens and towels.   Mostly you make your own breakfasts and evening meals, the ingredients provided from the farm and eco shop. Lunch (warm, organic, vegan) is served at the caféhouse at least 5 days a week and we offer some ”fika” during working breaks twice a day.  There is a washing machine in Torpet where you can do your laundry. What are nice things to do around here?  The farm is part of a nature reserve (160 hectares) where it is wonderful to walk and discover different paths. The farm is 500 meters from the sea, good for swimming and kayaking. The nearby city is Karlskrona (9 km away) – a historical naval base of Sweden and Unesco world heritage. From here you can explore history and the archipelago along this part of the coast. We sometimes arrange excursions to nearby interesting places with art exhibition, guided tour to our neighbour Skärva Herrgård, an old manor house from 1786,  bird watching excursion, movie evening in Solsalen or one day tour to a nearby city or place of interest.

I had a wonderfull stay at Skärva Gård. The stay is very cozy, and the place (10 minutes from the sea) truly is beautiful. I went there as the only volunteer and it was a great place for introspection and fair fun work! I picked tomatoes and did a lot of cleaning in the kitchen where we had wonderfull meals. But the best part was Karin and Henrik's generosity. They are both very friendly in sharing their knowledge and space, and are great at fostering a nice homey atmosphere. I had a very nice time and would definetely recommend anyone in search for a beautiful time in nature + a cozy vibe! Gracias Karin and Henrik, blessings to you both!!

The host are kind, warmhearted, welcoming, caring and full of knowledge about plants, nature, cooking and philosophy. I enjoyed the time we spent in the garden aswell as in the kitchen a lot, furthermore I loved the birdwatching trip as much as the excursion to the sea, thank you for everything! I can only recommend:) Alexa

Dear Karin, Henrik, and all the Skarvagard community, I could not have imagined such a magical experience, even if I tried. As my very first WWOOFing adventure, I learned so much thanks to your clear instructions, patience, and willingness to share your knowledge of gardening and your many recipes. Thank you once again — I will always remember my time with you as an unforgettable and wonderful first stay in Sweden's breathtaking pristine nature! Lana

My stay at Skärva was wonderful and did me a lot of good. Henrik and Karin are beautiful people, full of kindness, sharing and listening to the needs of the volunteers. It was a pleasure to spend time with them and exchange ideas. My activities at the farm were varied: cooking (delicious vegan recipes with special mention for the gluten-free bread ), working in the small organic shop, gardening (harvesting, preparing the soil for winter). Alongside this, we organized several activities, such as a birdwatching or movie nights! The little house and rooms for the volunteers are very pleasant, and the food is very good! The place is idyllic: nature is magnificent, between sea and forest, and perfect for great walks. It's very quiet and peaceful. In conclusion, I would love to come back there and recommend it without hesitation! Tack så mycket :)
