Lakeside Permaculture Farm near Stockholm
Welcome to our small farm located 90 km west of Stockholm, near Malmköping, at the end of a quiet road by Lake Skundern. The farm covers three hectares of fields, pasture and woodland, with traditional buildings, a lakeside yoga studio and greenhouses in development. It is a peaceful place surrounded by forest and water.
We are a Belgian-Swedish couple living here permanently. I work with art and am trained in permaculture design and vegan cooking in France. My husband is a hot air balloon pilot with extensive experience restoring old houses. Our son sometimes stays at the farm, where he is building small houses and a music studio.
Our garden is always evolving. We are developing a sustainable lifestyle using ecological and gentle methods inspired by permaculture principles. We cultivate vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers while restoring old buildings with traditional techniques and natural materials. Throughout the year we also welcome small groups for yoga and vegan cooking retreats.
As a WWOOFer, you will take part in daily farm life. The tasks vary with the season and may include gardening, planting, harvesting, foraging herbs and mushrooms, painting and restoring buildings, repairing fences, baking bread and preparing meals together. We are looking for engaged and curious people with a genuine interest in sustainability and nature, willing to work around five hours per day. We usually host two WWOOFers at a time for a minimum stay of two weeks.
Accommodation is either in a comfortable guest house or in a charming small cabin by the lake, depending on availability. The main houses have electricity, heating, fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms. We share most meals and cook vegetarian and vegan food together. In your free time, bicycles and a rowing boat are available, and it is easy to travel to Eskilstuna and Stockholm by public transport.
If this sounds like a place where you would like to contribute and learn, please write to us and tell us a little about yourself, what you hope to experience here and how you would like to take part in our projects.
Internet access is available.
We are closed for wwoofers from September until May.
