Our place is located in a beautiful area, 90 km west of Stockholm, near Malmköping. It´s situated at the end of the road, near the lake Skundern. The farm consists of 3 hectares of fields, pasture and little forest. On the farm there is several buildings and a little green house, two bigger on the way. There are altogether two living houses, stable, barns and a yoga studio in the front of the lake. We are living in one house and the other is for our guest. The living houses have electricity, heating, fully equipped kitchen, WC & showers. Depending on how many guests and wwoofers are staying, it may be necessary to share a room with others. We eat most meals together so you will take part in cooking, vegetarian and vegan food. We are two people living permanent at the farm. I´m coming from Belgium and works with art. I´m trained in permaculture design and vegan cooking in France. My husband is from Sweden and flying hot air balloon and has lot of experiences of restoring houses. Sometimes our son stays at the farm. He comes often with a lot of friends… He´s  building houses and music studio..From 2023, unfortunately have the animals moved to another place because we could not stay in Sweden permanent all the winter. The garden is always "art in progress" but our goal is to develop a sustainable living through ecological and harmless methods, using permaculture like tools. We would like to create a sustainable and organic garden based on permaculture design principles. Cultivate vegetable, herbs, flowers and fruits. We use to welcome groups of people who come to train and practise Yoga, Eutonie, Vegan cooking. They are staying on the farm for a few days and come mostly from France. We try to restore the old buildings in a traditional way using old painting techniques and materials. Woofers will participate in painting and restoring the house, dressing the fences, creating the garden, baking the bread and collecting what nature give us. We are looking for engaged and curious people, with a real interest in sustainable practices and nature, willing to work about 5 hours per day. We would like to host 2 wwoofers at the time for at least two weeks. They will stay by the own comfortable house or in a charming little house by the lake, depends the availability. During leisure time there are bikes available as well as a boat if you want to explore the surroundings. It’s also easy to take the bus to Eskilstuna, which is a little dynamic city. From Eskilstuna you can reach Stockholm in 1 hour by train. If you think this is something for you, please write us a little bit about yourself, what you would like to learn and experience at the farm, and also how you would like to contribute. We are looking forward to hear from you! Organic methods: The wildlife...and permakultur! Certifications: We have a liten vegetable production for own use. Current projects: Restauration of old building, new projekt like sunheating, Cultivating vegetables, Plockning of herbs and plant , mushrooms in the forrest…. most for tea och spices. Internet access available Ekeby Västergård is CLOSED for volunteer from September until Maj!

Chantal

We had an amazing time in Ekeby! Chantal is a very lovable person, a great chef, knows a lot about plants and permaculture and is the best local guide around. We did all sorts of activities at Ekeby, from scratching off old paint to applying new paint on the amazing Swedish barns at Ekeby, to cutting down weeds, grass and small trees. It was not WWOOFing in a traditional way (with a primary focus on agriculture) but also about maintaining houses and sheds the local way: something we really liked! To us it felt like a wholesome experience on all sorts of activities that you face when you live in a place like Ekeby. Staying over at the separate house was great. It had all the necessities inside to make our stay at Ekeby very comfortable. All the conversations we’ve had with both Chantal and her family and friends were very influential in shaping our dream to make Sweden our future home. We will probably make use of the opportunity to drop by at Ekeby next year! Thank you Chantal for these wonderful experiences. Wishing you all the best! Lennard & Joeri

The stay at Chantals Farm was fantastic. It´s a true nature paradise and our own house was wonderful! I was there together with my best friend and we enjoyed the tasks we got a lot. It varied between caring about the garden, some repair work or baking bread. The working time of 5h is super flexible so that we could enjoy the close by lakes for a sun and swim day when it was nice weather. Chantal is a wonderful, caring person and created a welcoming and close atmosphere from the beginning while maintaining our own privacy. She even showed us around the neighborhood and took us on some trips.
