We live on a small farm in the beautiful Åland Archipelago, surrounded by nature and the sea. On the farm, we have two dogs, some hens, quails, and quite a few bees. We practice organic farming, mainly growing hay and vegetables on a small scale, and we also produce honey that we sell.
Our farm is a place where we aim to live sustainably and in harmony with nature. We are passionate about organic farming and make the most of what our farm and the surrounding nature have to offer. Right now, beekeeping is an important part of our activities, and we continuously work on developing and improving our methods in organic farming and beekeeping.
We love sharing our life and knowledge about sustainable farming and beekeeping. There are also plenty of opportunities here to explore nearby islands and enjoy the calm archipelago environment. We have bicycles available for those who want to discover the island; it’s easy to get around since it is only 10 km from one end to the other, with around 250 inhabitants.
Our farm is certified by Evira, and we use organic methods in everything we do. We are constantly engaged in our projects, and there is always something new and exciting to dive into. We offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where you can experience a different way of life, close to nature. Internet access is available for those who wish to stay connected with the outside world.

Vi bor på en liten gård i den vackra Åländska skärgården, omgivna av natur och hav. På gården finns två hundar, några höns och vaktlar samt en hel del bin. Vi odlar ekologiskt, främst hö och grönsaker i liten skala, och producerar även honung som vi säljer.
Vår gård är en plats där vi strävar efter att leva hållbart och i samklang med naturen. Vi brinner för ekologiskt jordbruk och tar vara på det som vår gård och omgivande natur har att erbjuda. Just nu är biodling en viktig del av vår verksamhet, och vi arbetar kontinuerligt med att utveckla och förbättra våra metoder inom ekologisk odling och biodling.
Vi älskar att dela med oss av vårt liv och vår kunskap om hållbart jordbruk och biodling. På gården finns också möjlighet att utforska närliggande öar och njuta av den lugna skärgårdsmiljön. Vi har cyklar för den som vill upptäcka ön; här är det enkelt att ta sig runt eftersom den bara är 10 km från ena änden till den andra och har cirka 250 invånare.
Vår gård är certifierad av Evira, och vi använder ekologiska metoder i allt vi gör. Vi har ett pågående engagemang i våra projekt och det finns alltid något nytt och spännande att ta sig an. Thank you Mia and Kaj! You invited my co-wwoffer Annika and me to your home and to Åland Kumlinge in the best possible way. Your home, at the end of the road, overlooking fields and archipelago, is so beautiful and welcoming. The work was fun and varied. I was glad to do some practical work with bees and honey. Also proud to have planted potatoes first time in life. The tour to move the ship was extra fun when Kaj took us all around the island of Kumlinge. On the free time I enjoyed biking in the Åland landscape of small farms, villages and taking the ferry to the next island. I take home a stronger motivation to produce food from nature close around. Never throw food away. The chicken can live on it and give eggs back. I’m happy to have spent some summerweeks with Mia, Kaj and Annika.

I spent 10 days at Kaj & Mia - unfortunately, it was much too short; I would have liked to stay longer, but my journey continued. I am grateful to have been able to come. It was a great experience to be on such a beautiful island. Kaj & Mia are very friendly and open people. They make sure you feel welcome and well received!
I did and learned so many things in these 10 days that I probably will never have the chance to do again. Working with Kaj and my co-woofer Cecilia with the boat or in the garden was incredibly fun. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to work with Birgit as much as I would have liked, but working with the bees was very interesting and informative.
I can really only recommend a stay at Kaj & Birigt!

I had a wonderful stay with Mia and Kaj and can totally recommend a stay on Kumlinge. It was such a special experience to see the life in the archipelago, plus Mia and Kaj are really caring and make you feel at home very easily. I helped to take care of the greenhouses, the land, the donkeys/horses, the dogs and learned a lot about beekeeping. Sometimes Kaj would take me out fishing and on little boat trips which were absolutely stunning and my personal highlights.

My time at Mia's and Kaj's farm was such a beautiful experience! They integrated me in their family life, answered all my many questions and gave me such a good insight in how it is to live on an island like Kumlinge. The tasks were varied during my time. I learned a lot by helping Mia with the production of her honey or when I went fishing with Kaj. I will always remember the beautiful boat tours where I felt directly out of the book "Where the crawdads sing". I also enjoyed our delicious and healthy daily meals together! Thank you so much Mia and Kaj for that great time.

I had an amazing time at Hasslebo. Even while working, it felt like I was having a vacation. Not only were the surrounding stunning and the weather great, but there was also a very relaxed atmosphere at the farm and I got a lot of autonomy in planning out my working day. Mia and Kaj were truly amazing hosts, who tried there best to make my stay at the island memorable and full of new experiences. They were also very good to have conversations with and to learn from. The only downside to the farm for me was that the tasks were the same on most of the days, which became a little monotonous after some time. However, I don't regret any moment I have spent here and would absolutely recommend WWOOFing at Hasslebo!

Hey,
It was a very nice experience to go to Mia and Kaj's house during one month. We learnt a lot of things, and we also visited the surroundings by bicycle. Mia and Kaj are very nice, funny and welcoming. There were a lot of different tasks with the bees, the donkeys, the garden, the woods, the hans, fishing, etc... The place to beeeezzzz. We miss Ystra och Jedi :'(
