We need immediate help now in april.. Hi, Our family has lived on the farm since the 1650 at least, Today my parents are living in the new house and we are living in the big house with my wife and 3 kids (9, 12 and 15 years old). We are a very small family farm in Jämtland, on the 63 latitude, so we have short summers and a long cold winter. Both Linnea my wife and me are working outside the farm, Linnea as a Building engineer in the next municipal, Me as a Senior Tech at a IT company where i am monitoring, installing and configuring servers in datacenters all around the world from remote from the farm office we have. I love to share what I know about farming, so if you have questions. One of the main reasons you will come to us should be to learn about farming. The 4 hours you work every day will be intensive and hard working. We used to Ecological certified but from the summer 2022 we are not, due to i had to go from farming on 3 hectars down to 0,3 hectars when i had "got into the mental wall", and the cost of the certified cost to much. But we will grow the same way anyway. We now grow vegetables to our self for self-sustaining instead mostly so its realy small scale now. But we are working to expand the strawberrie, raspberry and fruit bushes field. We are also working with flowers in the greenhouse for sale to a local garden center in Östersund. To us you come to see and live nature, Learn about eco-farming on latitude 63, learning about growing in greenhouses. Cultural exchanges around the dinner table. We accept volunteers from the volunteer organizations WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) Through WWOOF and LLOOF we can also accept Erasmus+ students An ordinary day looks like this: 7-8 Breakfast (Saturday & Sunday between 8-9) 7:55 (8:55 Saturday & Sunday) We go through the main tasks for the day. 8:00-9:45 Morning tasks and instructions for the rest of the day (Saturday we start at 9 and Sundays we try to have a free day) 9:45-10 Morning Coffee break (very important to take a fika, (Not Saturday & Sunday)) 10-12 Continue to work mostly outside with the task i have given you. 12-13 Lunch break 13-17 Free time. Either you work more to have another day off, or maybe a walk in the mountains? We have cars that you can rent. 17:00 Those who will cook dinner for the day, start cooking. (Mon-Thursday we need the volonteers to cook) 18:00 Dinner 18-20 The evening tasks and closing up for the night. Takes usually 10 min for 1 person. Saturdays we start working at 9 to have one hour extra sleep morning. Sundays, we only do the neccesary daily tasks and then take the rest of the day off. Ordinary tasks are: watering plants and caring for the plants in the greenhouse, seeding plants, cleaning pots, organizing and fixing things, weeding the fields, Building things, Cleaning the area, carrying stuff, Packing vegetables, cleaning vegetables, picking vegetables, snow shuffling, cutting wood, painting and everything else what is needed to do in a farm. We expect you to help out 25 hours a week. You can work a full day to get another day free. Take note of how much you work, and then you have worked more than 25 hours a week, you take a day off, Please inform me which day you want to take as a free day in advance so I can plan ahead. If you will not show up for the dinner, please inform the one who does the dinner in advance so they can plan. The main rutines around the year is: Spring (May-June) Making the fields and plants ready for summer. Summer (June-August) weeding, take care of fields and greenhouses. Autumn (September-Oktober) Harvest, Make us ready for the winter and cutting wood. Winter (November-April) Keep the heat in the warm greenhouse and houses, taking care of the flowers in the greenhouse, keep the farm clean and maintainence. Both of us work outside the farm as well, so we can't always work together with you, I am working from 10:00-17:30 at my other work in IT. Sundays we usually go to church and the volunteers are always free to join. We also expect you to keep your room tidy, wash your own clothes in the washing machine and change the bed linning about every 2nd week and help out with the meals and kitchen duties. To Östersund, you can go by train, flight or bus where we can pick you up. If you coming by bus we can also pick you up in Svenstavik. By Car, put the GPS to Trappnäs 527, Hallen and you will come to the right place.

Trappnäs Gård was an absolutely amazing place for my second WWOOF experience. The farm is located on a picturesque point overlooking the big lake, in a rural area on a quiet dirt road. I thought that I might visit Östersund on one of the evenings; however that proved impractical as the city is actually about an hour away. The family was wonderful. They are accustomed to hosting volunteers and communicating in English. Especially the eldest daughter was eager to interact with me. I was very thankful to be included in the family’s church Christmas decorating evening. The bedroom where I stayed was in a cooler part the house separate from the main living area. I entered the house by a side door, where I could comfortably hang my outdoor clothing. The bedroom closet had work clothing left by previous volunteers, and I gladly borrowed a pair of waterproof work boots. The main winter activity is in the heated greenhouse. Jonas has built out the greenhouse with added insulating overhead curtains, which he reports cut the energy usage of the greenhouse by half. He further insulated one of the growing tables, where he grows cactus and aloe, which I found very impressive at 63* latitude. My tasks included trimming geraniums and propagating aloe, Christmas cactus, and other houseplants. I lit the wood fire in the greenhouse furnace and kept it going at low heat during the day. I highly recommend Trappnäs Gård especially for the interesting work and the welcoming family.

I had a great summer at Trappnäs gård, even though my stay had to be cut short due to a lack of organisation. My stay at this farm was a great experience for me and I learnt a lot. I weeded, planted, renovated and stocked wood. I had a great time with the family and their children, and with their grandparents. We fished for perch, went swimming in the lake and played with the children. The fika breaks I had with the grandparents helped me improve my Swedish and I really enjoyed their stories. I highly recommend Trappnäs gård for anyone who loves nature and Swedish family life.

This lovely farm has great land and organic ways of farming. Greenhouses and open air farming in this specific climate is fun and exciting to experience. Loved it there, probably will come back

I spent a week with Jonas, Linnea and their kids at at Trappnäs Gård AB. It was a great experience and I enjoyed the conversation and time with the whole family. The tasks are easy to follow and I enjoyed FIKA so much everyday. Despite visiting during winter, I still managed to do some planting work in the greenhouse. It was also memorable to join one of the kids' birthday celebration. Thank you for the hospitality and I hope to visit Sweden again in the coming future.

We had a great experience at the Trappnäs Gård AB farm. If you are looking for an agricultural experience in greenhouse cultivation, I recommend a visit to the farm. There, you'll have the opportunity to learn about growing a variety of crops, including raspberries, strawberries and tomato cultivars. As well as learning about farming practices, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Swedish culture, exploring aspects such as cuisine, religion, kaiak and the local way of life. Every day we had contact with the children and they are amazing, we learned a lot of English and played games. This farm offers a complete insight into Swedish rural life, I highly recommend it and thank Jonas and Linnea for the time Leo and I spent there!
