We spent a month with Steinj and Erika. It went really well — they are very friendly and helped us a lot with the next steps of our journey. We highly recommend woofing with them.

July 2025
I spent two weeks at Bödsjö Prästgård at the end of june. The first week I did lots of weeding in between the absolutely beautiful flowerbeds, and helped Steijn set up the trellises in the vegetable garden. In the second week I cut the grass and weeded out the parasitic plants from the meadow, so the quality of the hay could be better. In my free time I went exploring the neighbourhood on a bike I could borrow- very nice ! They also took me to a traditional midsommar party and we visited a museum about old cars and other objects, really cool. The food was great and I liked how they made everything themself. Also, I was hosted in a nice room with an absolutely giant bed, I had lots of space for myself :)

October 2024
I spent two weeks at Erika and Steijn's farm. It was my first Wwoofing experience and I am very happy I did it with them.
Steijn and Erika are really sweet and not pushing too much on the work. I was included in their daily routine and had some good time with them. They are also knowledgeable on food transformation and preservation (yogurt, cheese, dried and jarred vegetables, ...) which was super interesting to me.
The farm and the area is beautiful and calm. It is not huge but there was always something to do. During my stay (October) I worked on varied tasks : harvested vegetables, covered the soil for the winter, prepared the peas, cut overgrown hedges, painted the front of the house, manage the goats and helped Steijn on other small tasks. On the weekend, I was able to go hiking and cycling around the lakes in the area.
Notes :
I was a little lost the first week. I wish I had a tour of the farm and be shown how the daily routine was (especially for the food !).
The confort is somewhat limited. The shower is in the basement and not always warm. Your room is poorly insulated from the rest of the house. It did not bother me too much but maybe it could for you.

October 2024
I had a very good time with Erika and Steijn. They live in a wonderful place. The time of year made the place glow with the most beautiful autumn colours.
The work was very varied such as harvesting berries, apples or potatoes in the garden, but also around the house. I removed weeds from the gravel in front of the house, mowed the lawn and painted the house in classic red.
Steijn is communicative and Erika is very caring. They made me feel at home and gave me plenty of space to myself.
After a few days I got used to the peace and quiet. I had a lot of time to read, knit, fish and think.
It is difficult to start a hike from the house as there are no paths, only roads. But I was able to hire a bike. for longer trips I would recommend travelling by car. Unfortunately I didn't dare to hike alone in the forest because I was afraid of the bears, but Erika gave me a bracelet with bells:)
I had a very special month that made me dream of a self-sufficient life on a lake in Sweden. I will be back next year!

November 2023
From the start Erika & Steijn integrated us into their family. We felt really welcomed by their hospitality. We spend some time here in October, just before the winter (snow) had arrived. We helped in the vegetable garden installing a line of defense for the hungry critters that also want to snack on their tasty veggies during the summer. Furthermore we helped with preparation for winter, carrying firewood and some indoor tasks like cutting and preserving leeks. If you are into (traditional) handcrafts like knitting, wheeving, leather working, cheese making (experts), proccessing meat and preservation in general then this is the place for you. A thing to keep in mind at this farm is that you will be integrated into the family, which means eating and lunch will be with the hosts as well as your sleeping accomadation which is in their house. We absolutely loved this more “one of the family” approach, but if you are more protective of your personal space, this farm should be reconsidered. Overall we had a wonderful time and we will definitely return some day! Thanks again for the cake (Kronans kaka) that Erika made in celebration of our anniversary <3 hopefully see you two soon :)

I had an interesting time at bodsjo prastgard. Steijn and Erika are kind people who will show you a lot about their unique way of life. Stein has a lot of knowledge on the garden which he willingly imparts, as well as long discussions on politics. The location is very beautiful, right by a lake which you have fantastic views of from your bedroom window, however it is a bit isolated so it's best if you enjoy spending time in the same place or if you like activities such as hiking or fishing which can be done in the area. This is also the reason why I would maybe recommend coming with someone else as it can get a little lonely as the only wwoofer on the farm. The work hours are 9-5, and the work was mostly outside such as woodwork or raking leaves but I also helped with bread/sauerkraut making. Though the hosts are very kind it is also worth noting that if you give him reason to (I left the basement door open letting cold air in) Steijn can get very angry which was a little scary. A stay at bodsjo prastgard is a unique experience which can be very rewarding, and I am grateful for having had this opportunity.

Reply from Steijn
hi Eva. It was fun to have you here and you've really done a great job here. and yes it is true that Steijn can get angry, but if after many calls and patches on doors to close them because the heat disappears and it gets cold in these rooms. Then maybe it's not so strange.
