For about 15years ago I started to grow berries at our summerhouse. Long ago they grow oats here. Me and my husband live in the summerhouse, which is really a big house with 8 rooms overlooking the river. We have both retired from our jobs as architect and rural planer. At summertime our children and grandchildren visit us. The berries that grow here are strawberries, raspberries, currants, rhubarbs erc. We sell them locally and make jam.

I stayed for a week at Anki and Lars’s place. First, I must say that my experience here was excellent and comfortable. There is a beautiful garden at the back of the house along the river. In the garden, there are varieties of berries, vegetables, and trees. For the work, I mainly worked with Anki, and we harvested berries, weeded, cut grass and branches, maintained flowers, and tended to saplings in the garden. While I was staying there, I enjoyed a nice breakfast with hot coffee and homemade sourdough bread made by Anki, as well as tasty Swedish dishes for lunch and dinner (blood pudding, knäckebröd, Äetsoppa, and Swedish pancakes), and delicious homemade desserts to follow. I had so much fun at the farm, which I cannot fully explain in a comment, such as learning how to cook with harvested vegetables and fruits, the way of life, including spending time outside, and having fika time in the garden. Additionally, Sunborn, where the farm is located, is famous for its association with the artist Carl Larsson. During my stay, I had the opportunity to visit Carl Larsson’s house, Carl Larsson’s neighbour's house, and exhibitions at the local community center. You will find lots of views around Sunborn, which are drawn by Carl Larsson. I would love to come back with my mother next year! I am thankful to Anki and Lars for providing an opportunity to visit your farm!!

We stayed for 5 days in mid-May with Ankij and Lars in their beautiful cabin by the river. The cabin had everything we needed and very comfortable beds. After a semester studying abroad in Sweden, this was an excellent way to end it! Anki and Lars had us work mornings and gave us afternoons off, which we spent relaxing in the cottage by the river and exploring the surrounding areas. We planted potatos, onions, beans, cabbage, and beets. The work also consisted of some cleaning and upkeep of the property (mowing the lawn and weeding). They had us borrow knee pads and gloves, which were very helpful. While we were there, rhubarb was in season. Ankij taught us how to harvest it and make jam and chutney. We got to see the store that she sells them in. Very charming and local. We also got to try lots of Swedish meals and her pies/cakes. They were delicious! Sundborn was a beautiful town and we got to visit the Carl Larsson house too. There were lots of paths around the area for walking and running. There was also a community sauna by the river, but we didn’t get to try it out. We truly could not have asked for a better experience for our first WWOOF. Highly recommend!

I spent two wonderful weeks with Anki and Lars. The setting is magnificent, with the river just a few steps from the garden, where raspberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb grow. I met their sons and grandchildren, who are very friendly and inquisitive. Anki and Lars made me part of their family by sharing activities together, such as swimming in the river, fishing and baking a cake with fruit from the garden. All the meals were excellent, with vegetables and fruit from the garden. I enjoyed kayaking on the lake and visiting Falun and its mines. There was plenty of time to do whatever I wanted after work. The little house I stayed in was fully equipped and very comfortable, with a picture frame overlooking the river. I really enjoyed my first experience as a Wwoofeur with Anki and Lars.

It was such a delight to stay! I was at the gardens for just a short weekend, but the whole family was so welcoming! We had such good conversation and lots of timing swimming in the river.

We had a marvelous time in Sundborn! Anki and Lars are very welcoming and polite hosts that provided us with everything we needed and more. Their English is quite good and they even speak some German. We also got to know their children and grandchildren during the shared meals whom are all very kind and lively. Fika, lunch and dinner were all exceptionally delicious and the family had no problem adapting to our vegetarianism. The WWOOFers live in a separate house (two bedrooms) down by the water which is fairly new and has anything you could ask for - ranging from a dish washer over Wi-Fi to a terrasse. The windows and mirrors not only make the house very bright and inviting but also enable you to always have a glance at the river which was greatly appreciated! We explored Sundborn and some of the forests around it and even got to join the family on excursions. Our personal highlight was kayaking on the lake/river! Due to the hosts age, there is no more jam being produced in greater amounts so we did some weeding around the house as well as some paving. Anki and Lars gave us lots of space and were always open to suggestions from our side. It was our first time WWOOFing and we can full-heartedly recommend joining Anki and Lars in the garden!
