Old farm on a big island. Forest and fiels and water. Everything is old ; buildings, funitures, me. A farm with remains from a long history. The place is not perfectly clean or organized. Yet. This is real countryside. Insects, dirt, rost, dust, cold water.... We work with cultivation, renovating houses. 26 sheep and 3 cows for keeping the fields open.
Parrots, cats, sometimes horses. Several houses spread out along 800 m farmroad. 4 people living permanently on the farm.
Independent working persons with practical skills use to have a good stay here.
At the moment we dont have any proper production. This means you will not come to a farm with ready made systems of how to keep 500 chickens or deliver 500 l milk at 7 a clock. You will rather learn from the situation of an old farm where we try to find a ways of starting up small scale production. And learning by doing.
If you like construction you build.
But if you like gardening you do that. Or cooking food for all of us. Or repairing old machines. Or fencing new land.
The people you daily meet on the farm are not more than a handful. Me, our employee Erik, our neighbours. Usually 2 woofers at the same time.
You work alone -or with the other woofers in project. I know what is needed to do on the farm - but not always how to do it.
Afternoon and evening off. Weekends off. You will have lots of time for yourself . In their free time he woofers use to : sleep..: ), bike to nearby activities like visiting the small veteran airport, recycling station, natural resort, the Viking capital 900 a.c . Closest grocery store is 3 km . We have bicycles, camping equipment, one small boat and fishing equipment. Stockholm city can be reach by public boat 1,5 hour.
A usual day:

Work mon- fri 9.30 -14
Lunch 14. Food is served in my kitchen. Often remains to eat for evening meal.
Accomendation :
In a separate house . Your own room if you prefer. Shared Kitchen . Shared toilet. And woodheated shower in my house. Hotwater when someone put a fire. Sauna by the lake.
Internet access available
Bus stop 500m away. Stockholm city is reached by bus or boat.
What woofers tell me they most enjoy on this farm: the forest, our sheep, swimming after work, food, doing your own work in your own way, and feeling like home .
What I think woofers like less on the farm: Sometimes not finding tools or material, Sometimes not finding me for questions. Sometimes no hot water for shower, Sometimes nothing to do in the evening except listening to the wild birds ....

22 march . Our first woofer has arrived. A German farmer boy . Already driving tractor in the fields .

1 July
We have 4 volontaries at the moment. Two nice longstayers since March . And two French guys who are leaving soon. I will take them to a local party tomorrow as a farwell. They were sometimes given boring jobs like removing weed or heavy work like cleaning the sheep house- but they were always positive. Seems like they had a nice time here . And the did a great job for the farm.
4 July
We made only half of the harvest when the tractors broke. They are being repaired at the moment. We would need a girl at the farm who like cooking and gardening.
24 July
Michael is repairing the tractors with lots of patience and with help of Google and some older men from the village also assist.
The two other woofers are restoring a fishing house by the lake. Their own suggestion. I was inspecting today and find them constructing a beautiful floor of natural stones . Such a good idea !! They also renovate the jetty and we can now get out on the water !!
2 September
We are going to fish crayfish one of thoose nights. Two woofers at the moment. Today one of them has started to repair a garage and we are going to do some ironwork and welding tomorrow . The other one has been on the fields cutting grass. He is an experienced tractor driver. Beeing the only woofer could be lonesome. But some of these young volontaries dont mind meeting my very old neighbours or going with me to see friends , or church on Sundays. I am Christian .My passion is history and I will introduce you to the people who lived on this farm 100 years ago. There are photoes and 120 year old letters.
Work to do 2026
2-3 week projects :
* Splitting wood with machine.
* pulling branches together and burn big fire
* Clean the sheep house. Physically demanding work. Suits a strong person.
* cutting the sheeps wool end of april
* Establish beds for cultivating vegetables , planting, fence the area. Independant project a couple of weeks in march- april.
* restoring fences: ongoing work.
* glass work repairing windows, Repairing frames for windows as well. Carpentry experience. .
Summer 2026
* june and july working with cutting grass in the fields with machines. Some manual work.
*taking down 1 km iron fence, terrible work- but in a beutiful wild area with eagles near the lake.
* picking cherries- climbing high -july
* putting up lots of net for a parrot voliere.
* cutting grass along the fences with machine-endless work june- august.
* restore a wooden jetty by the lake. Handy skill is prefered
Possible projects june- sept 2026
*Working on our small island in the bush. Row a boat to bring material to build a small cabin for fishing tools .The work suits 2 persons who are not afraid of real nature and basic knowledge in construction and carpentry.. It is an area with lots of wild animals like eagles and beavers. No people.

Getting colder. But still possible to work outside.
We slaughter a few sheep and prepare the houses for winter .
December - februari usually no new volontaries. No projects. We rest, feed the animals and keep the house warm. Thats all.
We had 8 woofers so far 2026. French engenieur students seem to be a good match for us : )
Everyone has learned things they did not expect . They all contributed to the farm in different ways.
