Hi, we are Nilla and Bengt living on a small homestead between the two biggest lakes in Sweden. Nilla is a gardener in a historical garden and Bengt a historical builder and lumber man, both since more than twenty years. We have been wwoofing ourselves wintertime since 2015 and think it's a great way of sharing knowledge, meeting people and see new places. Everything here is on a small scale and we try to be more and more self-sufficient. We have three grown up children and four grandchildren. They are not staying at the farm but live close by. On the farm we have a small flock of sheep, goats and chickens. We grow all kinds of vegetables and have two small greenhouses. We have two on going renovation projects, one on the farm which is an old house and a barn that recently became ours, and one house that's been abandoned for sixty years that now belongs to our son. This is not the most picturesque and beautiful spot of Sweden, but here is good vibes, nice people around and a lot of nice places not far from here. Bikes are available. We are open minded and interested in your ideas, skills, what we can learn from you and what you want to achieve of your stay. You don´t need to have experience in farming nor carpentry, the most important is that you are interested and motivated. We will be happy to share our experience and knowledge. Organic methods: Green manure, cover crop, crop rotation, compost, gentle soil preparation, no-digging. Certifications: We are organic but we are to small and it is a cost to be certified. Current projects: The projects and doings varies through the season. One project is renovating an old little house and a barn. There are every-day-tasks as feeding the animals. Springtime its a lot of soil preparation, seeding and planting. Summer is a lot about maintaining the garden, weeding, scyting and hay harvesting. In the autumn it's some harvesting and preserving. In between there might be attending the fences and maintaining the property. In general, the work is varied and we try to switch between chores during the day. Mostly we work together with the wwoofers, but sometimes you might need or want to work independently. Internet access available in the house

It was my first time wwoofing and I couldn’t have wished for more! Nilla and Bengt made me feel welcomed and at home from the first moment, including me in their tasks, everyday life and little community. I learned a lot about gardening, sustainability, fermenting, taking care of sheep, goats and chicken, and the swedish way of living, including fika and sauna. They are both very kind, interested and always curious and eager to learn new things, like fermenting or brewing beer. I had a really good time and the two weeks I was lucky enough to spend with them flew by. Anyone who has the opportunity to spend time with them and learn from them is very lucky! Thank you so much for everything, hope to see you again soon!

In the two weeks I stayed there we did lots of different things together, and I learned a lot, for example how to cut grass with a scythe and how to make cinnamon buns.  As soon as I entered their house, I felt at home. We had very good conversations about traveling, wwoofing and life in general.  I feel very lucky to be one of two volunteers to work on this farm this year, and I’m very glad that this farm is part of my experience in Sweden.  This was not my first wwoofing experience but for everyone who starts wwoofing and is looking for a farm I recommend coming here if you have the chance.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Nilla and Bengt´s home. They made us feel very welcome from the very first to the last minute. They are very warm-hearted, open, skilled and intelligent people with a good sense of humor. Working for them was a pleasure as they are very patient and relaxed and yet organised and willing to answer every question you might have. We also met some of their family members and friends and every encounter felt just as comfortable and socially rewarding. Their place and garden is very idyllic and one of a kind: full of love and life and little wonders. We enjoyed looking after the chicken, cuddling with the goats, harvesting vegetables, sharing laughter and stories etc. etc. ... Furthermore, we are extremely thankful for the "extra" experiences such as the sauna, picking mushrooms and an excursion to spot beavers in the nearby lake. We couldn´t have asked for more and hope we will see each other again one day. If you are looking for a great wwoofing experience in Sweden, write to them ... if they confirm, count yourselves very lucky: You have just won the wwoofing-lottery-jackpot. ;-)

I spent an amazing week at Grönskan with Nilla and Bengt - I wish I could have stayed longer. They immediately made me feel at home in their beautiful little farm. Tasks given to me were varied (weeding, planting, watering, sheep shearing, painting, feeding the animals...) and workdays were well organised. Nilla and Bengt genuinely valued the work I did, which made it very enjoyable to work with them. They were always willing to exchange about their practices and answer my questions : I learned a lot about gardening, sheep and goat farming and the Swedish culture in general. They also cooked delicious meals, and made sure to show me around the area, which I appreciated a lot. I look forward to coming back as soon as I can, thank you Nilla and Bengt !

I had a wonderful time here and it couldn't have been better. Nilla and Bengt are incredibly open-minded and warm-hearted people. Both have taught me so many new things with incredible patience and a lot of humor. What a pity that there aren't many more people like Nilla and Bengt. The world would be a lot better!! You are surrounded by beautiful nature, learn a lot about growing vegetables, farm animals and plants and have the opportunity to learn things that you would never learn at home. Nilla has incredible expertises in gardening and she cooks excellently! With his enormous patience, Bengt showed me how to carve and that you can be in a very good mood even in the morning :-) For me it was an unforgettable time here and I wish everyone who has the opportunity to have a fantastic time as I had here.

It was our first Wwoof experience ever and we could have not chosen better hosts than Nilla and Bengt. They are both super friendly, warm hearted and caring. We immediately felt welcome and as part of the family. They really live in a little paradise with lots of flowers, an impressive kitchen garden, old trees, chicken and sheep. And if you are lucky, you get to see the lovely goats as well. We could not have imagined how much you can learn in only a couple of days. Be it gardening, animal care or working with wood. The work was very varied, never boring and also never too much. Nilla and Bengt are amazing teachers, patient and encouraging. The food was wonderful, so delicious and with fresh ingredients from the garden. If you get the chance to wwoof with them, you can consider yourself lucky!
