Three Generations of Farming and No-Dig Vegetables
Kronoberg
Holmahult Östergård is a (by three generations) family run farm with some sheep, chicken and a medium size vegetable garden, of about 0,75ha.
We are not a certified producer but practice organic methods and big parts are no-dig veggie beds.
Right now: We are in the process off setting up for the upcoming season. Seeding, grow bed preparations and general maintenance of the farm and equipment. We are always in need of keen helpers to share and help with the work on the farm. Let us know if you are interested in coming to us!

I had a truly wonderful time with Björn, Birgitta, and their lovely dog Kimma. Even though my English isn't perfect, they always listened patiently, and I felt very welcomed and understood.
Most of my work was harvesting vegetables, which felt like a treasure hunt—it was so much fun! There were also some sheep on the farm. I didn’t get too close because I didn’t want to scare them, but I enjoyed watching them from a distance.
Every day, I was lucky to enjoy delicious porridge, bread, coffee, and traditional Swedish meals. I felt so happy and well taken care of. Birgitta also taught me how to knit, and I managed to make one arm warmer—which made me really proud!
I was also lucky enough to visit the café where their son Magnus works, which was a lovely experience. On my last day, they kindly prepared breakfast earlier than usual just for me and even drove me to the bus stop. I really appreciated their kindness.
I had so many fun and meaningful conversations with everyone. Thank you so much for such a heartwarming and memorable stay!

Bjorn and Birgitta warmly welcomed me from July 31st to August 12th. I immediately felt at home with them. I loved helping them harvest the vegetables: zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes... and of course, the blueberries. I enjoyed chatting with them. They are kind-hearted people. Thank you again for welcoming me. It's a shame my stay wasn't longer.
Tack så mycket, Magnus

My two and a half weeks at Birgittas and Björns Farm were a wonderful experience.
I learned a lot about all sorts of things. Besides the obvious work with the vegetables and sheep, I learned how to knit socks and could even try to spin my own wool a few times.
We spoke only Swedish, wish was great since I already try to improve my skills in that. Although I’m far from perfect, they made it very easy to speak to them and we had great conversations.
I didn’t necessarily have the weekends off but a few other days, so if your free weekends are sacred to you, you should probably talk about that beforehand.
In generell the stay felt a bit like summer holiday on your grandparents farm but with a bit more working to do ;).
I wish you all the best Birgitta and Björn :)

I had a wonderful time with the two of them 🥰 You immediately feel at home! Björn is a good person to talk to if you want to know anything about the local animals, and Birgitta conjures up delicious food every day. She also showed me how she spins, and I was thrilled to be able to try it out myself 🥰 We worked together most of the time, always at a relaxed pace. It was so welcoming that it was hard for me to leave.
Thank you for the wunderful time!!!! ♡

I can warmly recommend a stay here! :)
I felt very welcome and at home and the tasks were varied and nice. We got a lot done even though Birgitta and Björn don't insist on a strict timetable, so it was always a really pleasant atmosphere. They were really lovely and we exchanged a lot of our cultural differences, which was really fun! Birigitta also showed me how to spin yarn and how to crochet. Also I spent a lot of time with their always-happy dog! ^^
Tack så mycket för allt!
