My friend and I visited Johan's farm for about two weeks in September. We helped relocate the sheep closer to the farm which included setting up and putting down fences and trying to lure the sheep with "candy". Every morning we also went with the quad to check on the sheep and give them water if necessary. During that, the sheep were also very open to our cuddles:D. Other than that we helped to pick the potatoes. Johan also had us set up a wishing list of things we would like to do, so in our free time he enabled us to fulfill these-including baking kanelbullar, collecting mushroom, driving around to see moose, driving the tractor etc. He was always asking if we needed anything or if he could improve something to give us the best time we could possibly have there. So we felt very welcome and were enjoying the family-like atmosphere! Regarding the living situation, my friend and I both had our own rooms in the same house as Johan. Living with him was very enjoyable and funny. Breakfast we had seperately as Johan got up earlier than us. Lunch we sometimes had together. In the evenings we were taking turns for cooking dinner but also ended up helping each other out or just hang around the kitchen. My friend and I are both vegetarians so Johan made the "sacrifice" to also cook vegetarian for us. Overall we loved our stay at Borggården very much and almost wouldn't want to leave. We can definitely recommend woofing at this farm, especially with a fried. Tack för alt!

My friend and I visited Johans farm for 2 weeks in late May. We had a great time helping out with the sheep, planting potato’s, putting up fences, stacking wood, and organizing ect.. the work was not to hard and was overall a mellow vibe on the farm. In our free time we got to visit there cottage my the lake, walk/run in the beautiful woods right the house, sauna and jump in the water. We loved hanging out with the dogs and Johans grandkids! We had great conversations with Johan. We ate more meals on our own/hung out with ourselves because the family was going through a transition period. Recommend going with a friend! We hope to visit again

I spent one and a half months in Skattungbyn at Marie and Johan's beautiful farm. I worked on many versatile tasks, from shearing sheep to building a sauna. I spent some time in the grand forest that belongs to the farm, helped out taking care of the animals, and worked in the garden. Through Marie and Johan's great knowledge about the culture, the landscape, and the farm work in this region, I learned a lot. It was always fun working, and even more fun attending the long sauna evenings and the fun parties that took place often. (The Swedish Oktoberfest was an extraordinary experience! <; ) The food was also great! On the weekends, there was plenty of time to visit the breathtaking nature all around, with rivers, "mountains," northern lights, and the Swedish forest. I felt very welcome the whole time, by the family and also all the neighbors. I recommend this place to everyone! Especially to anyone who wants an authentic experience of Swedish farm life! Thanks for the great time! :)

We spent January with Marie and Johan on the farm and it was a very nice time. Our day started in the morning by giving the sheep their feed and bringing water to the cattle. From then on, every day was a bit different, depending on what had to be done. Sometimes the sheep got new straw, sometimes the lambs were weighed, and regularly there was new feed. We liked most to bottle feed some of the lambs. Many mothers got lambs at the time and we were able to be present at many births and could help sometimes. Outside the barn, picking new firewood and shoveling snow was part of our tasks. There was no task that wasn't fun and we had the weekend off. We had a joint coffee/tea break every day where we could talk about different things and ask anything we wanted to know. Often the whole family was there during the break and we had a lot of nice and funny conversations. We found it very nice that we stayed in our own little house. Therefore eating vegan was no problem. We arrived there with no experience and felt we could take on responsibilities quickly. We learned a lot during our time with Marie and Johan and would come back anytime.

In Oct/Nov I spent seven weeks at Borggården. Honestly, I couldn't have imagined a better place for my first WWOOFing experience! During my stay I felt so welcomed by everyone - including the hosts as well as their friends and neighbours. I enjoyed the various tasks on the farm, especially working with the lovely sheep. Apart from the work at the sheep house (feeding, weighing lambs, etc.) I also got insights into slaughtering, hunting and meat processing. As a vegetarian I never felt uncomfortable with this, as Marie and Johan were always very sensitive. Other tasks included weeding, working on their summer house and fixing the damaged trailers (although I may not have been the most helpful in this case :D). In the evenings we often discussed plans for the next day, so I felt involved in the whole working process. From a WWOOFers' point of view, this is quite motivating. In my free time I have spent many hours running in the woods. The area is amazing for people who love outdoor activities. I left the farm with many precious memories: relaxed fikas, funny sauna conversations, the glorious Skattungbyn hill race (with three participants in sum), seeing the northern lights for the first time, Marie’s delicious bread, making the farm's famous bestselling lemon sausage, my first sheep-shearing experience... I will even miss the discussions with Johan. Although we did not always agree, the discussions were respectful and made me reflect some of my own perspectives. Tack så mycket!

I really enjoyed the month I spend at Borggården. The sheep startet lambing during my stay, which was very interesting experiencing. One of the best parts of my stay was cuddling with the lambs and feeding them 🐑 I always felt welcome by Marie and Johan, they are both very kind, and cooks some delicious food. Thank you for having me! ☺️
