Organic farm in Sweden in the county of Dalarna
Dalarna
We (Henrik & Elisabeth) run an agricultural and forestry company in the county Dalarna in Sweden. On the farm there are horses, chickens, cats and sometimes a few pigs.
We grow and sell organic potatoes and we also grow oats, barley , wheat and hay.
Since a couple of years ago we have also been doing beekeeping.
The farm is very close to the forest were we pick blueberries, lingonberries and in the garden we have plenty of berries too.
In the forrest you can also find a lot of lakes and hiking trails.
Our farm have Northswedish drafthorses and they are our workmates! We love to train them and sometimes they work with us in the fields and sometimes in the forest.
During wintertime we work and train the horses a lot so if you like horse work and would like to explore the Swedish countryside during wintertime we can offer that here.
Daily life:
We usually start the day with a shared breakfast around 7:30 AM, and start the first task of the day at 8 AM. Lunch is shared together at 12 PM – I (Elisabeth) usually cook, but sometimes we prepare it together. For dinner, WWOOFers generally prepare their own meals, depending on what’s happening on the farm that day.
Accommodation:
Each WWOOFer gets their own room unless you’re a couple. We have a guest room with a double bed, and a small cabin on the farm where one WWOOFer typically stays. The cabin has its own toilet and shower. Our office is also located in one of the rooms in the cabin.
Good to know:
We prefer you to be at least 22 years of age, have good knowledge of English (or Swedish), and have at leaste some farm experience. Experience handling horses is a plus!
We have chosen to not cater to vegans or vegetarians.
Before confirming any stay, we will always invite you for video to get to know each other a little beforehand.

My 5-week stay at Säljgården was simply amazing, I couldn’t have wished for a better first WWOOFing experience. I was lucky to be there with another WWOOFer, we all had a great time together and I even extended the initial length of my stay twice.
Henrik and Lizzy make you feel at home and part of their family from the start. They are very easy-going, hard-working, funny and above all warm-hearted people. The same goes for their son Gustaf, he lives on the property too and has a lot of interesting passions. The gin he makes in his distillery is the best I’ve ever tasted!
There’s always something going on at the farm and I was involved in a wide variety of cool tasks and activities. This ranged from, among others, moose hunting, butchering, and potato harvesting and sorting, to splitting firewood and plowing fields. I also got the opportunity to ride two of their horses, these rides through nature were incredible!
We had a lot of interesting conversations at the dinner table, and I met many of their lovely friends and family members. During leisure, I really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and playing with their cats and dog.
I’m truly grateful for this wonderful experience and would love to come back one day!

I stayed at Säljgård for a month in October–November and absolutely loved it! Lizzie, Henrik, and Gustaf are wonderfully warm hosts who welcome you into their lives in a truly holistic way — sharing both work and leisure.
During my stay, I volunteered alongside another WWOOFer who soon became a friend. We learned so much — from hands-on farm work to hunting, distilling, and everything in between. The Säljgård family are kind, inclusive, and genuinely considerate; I truly felt like part of their family.
The area around Noret is beautiful and full of life — perfect if you enjoy animals, nature, and exploring the outdoors.
I’ll always treasure this unforgettable experience and would love to return to Säljgård! ❤️

I spent the month of March at Lizzie and Henrik's farm, and absolutely loved the experience. (So much so that i have already planned my next stay!) They are very generous, patient and welcoming people who make it easy to feel part of the family.
I chose this time of year mainly because I wanted to learn working with the horses in the forest (which I did do on several occasions), but was also pleasantly surprised to having had the opportunity to revive my riding skills.
Daily work (weekends were days off) consisted of tending to the chickens/eggs and horses, and walking the dog. Other tasks included: potato sorting & packaging; mucking the horse paddocks; mucking the chicken coop; occasional housework (some food preparation and vacuum-cleaning).
Thank you so much for having me, and see you again very soon!
