Natural horse breeding, organic vegetable growing and small-scale forestry.
Blekinge
Our farm is situated in Jämshög village, westerly Blekinge on the border to Skåne (approx 140 km from Malmö)
We breed dressage and show jumping horses as naturally as possible. We have 2-4 new foals every year. We try to educate them with love and respect for their different personalities.
We grow vegetables, berries, and fruits organically. For the moment this is still just for family consumption but we expand the growing area every year.
We use wild plants to prepare food (quiche, soup, pesto, sallads etc) for our own consumption and as gifts for friends.
We produce our own firewood.
We produce our own logs which are converted to construction timber together with two small-scale "sawmills".
Inhabitants:
4 humans, 1 dog, 2 cats, 16 horses, and a lot of wildlife in our wood and fields. See some of the animals in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeoT3qQOAyU
Learning opportunities:
Sowing, weeding, and harvesting vegetables, berries, and fruit.
Collecting wild plants.
Taking care of stable, horses and foals.
Repairing and building warm beds, seed beds, fences, pastures etc.
Watch a video describing a normal workday at Råängen Gård.

We attend to the horses before noon (including eating a big breakfast together). After eating lunch (together) we have time for some small projects and individual activities and free time. In the evening we bring in the horses, prepare and eat a dinner together and then go to end up the day with food and water to horses and say good night.
Already in February we start planting. In March we prepare the seed beds. And inspect and prepare summer and foal pastures. From April we start harvesting and collect wild plants. And the first foals arrive. April-May are really the peak of activity on the farm. So if your interested in seeing all our activities we really need help during this period. From May in-door cultivated plants move outside and other are sewed directly. In June asparagus arrives and weeding begins (!). And the years last foals are born. July to September are the big harvesting months. In August this years foals are presented at the local Foal shows. October means fruit harvest. And tree planting. In November we harvest the last black cabbage and close the seed beds for winter rest. December and January are maintanance months. And planning for next years growing season. And all year around we take care of riding horses, mares and foals.
At our farm, we are very interested in cooking. We use first of all our own products, clean raw materials and local products. We have a big knowledge and interest in wine. We take great interest in society, climate and environmental discussions.
Possible activities are walking, biking, bathing and swimming in the sea. For persons with prior riding capabilities, some of our horses could be used and riding lessons could be arranged. Guided fishing tours could also be arranged.

It was a wonderful first wwoofing experience with Hans and Eva. They are very kind and welcoming. The daily routine the woofers had was really good for me. I really liked the food and I loved working with the horses. I would recommend going to this farm if you are a fan of a daily routine and horses. The atmosphere was always familiar and nice, we also played board games wich was really fun

I stayed at Råängen Gård for one month and had a very nice time. It was very rewarding to work with the horses every day and become more familiar with them over time, and I feel like I learned a lot. Hans and Eva are very friendly and welcoming and overall it was a very pleasant month spent with them and with the other WWOOFers.

I had never done WWOOFing before, and it was my first experience abroad, so I was a bit stressed at first. In the end, that was completely unnecessary, as everything went wonderfully well. Hans and Eva welcomed me very warmly, and I spent a wonderful month with them. They are very sociable people who truly enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences with the people they host. With all the stories they tell, it is very easy to immerse yourself in Swedish culture, which is exactly what I was looking for. Over the course of one month, I learned a great deal alongside them, both on a human level and in terms of knowledge about the farm and the horses. I am leaving this month and this experience feeling completely satisfied. Once again, a big thank you to them for welcoming me the way they did.

Maja and I spent about two months on Hans and Eva's farm (apart from Christmas and New Year's).
Thanks to the daily porridge and the daily board game Lord of Waterdeep, a family atmosphere quickly developed. You have to be careful not to get addicted to these things, though, because we did!
Our main tasks were mucking out stables and, due to the weather, walking the horses. We also planted lots of plants, so there isn't a single empty windowsill left in Hans and Eva's house. The food was always delicious, and the rooms were very cozy. Hans and Eva were always open and kind.
Thank you so much for the wonderful time you gave us. We will definitely be back!

I have spend almost 5 months on Råängen Gård and it was the best decision to choose this farm. I felt like home since the first day. Hans and Eva are the most welcoming and lovely people I know, in addition to that they are both really good cooks! I enjoyed every single meal and especially while christmas I really appreciated their skills.
But not only the humans are wonderful on this farm, throughout my time on the farm I could really get to know every single Horse and how they think. Hans trusted us a lot with the horses, so that I really felt a progress in working together with them. Spending time on the farm with the young horses is a great opportunity to improve your skills with horses, no matter how much you knew about them before. Hans and Eva are really inspiring in the way how they treat the horses and work with them, just by watching I could learn a lot!
I will miss everyone on this Farm, especially my little favorite ztella, but I am already looking dorward to coming back.
Thank you for giving me a second home for life!
See you soon,
Frieda

I spend one month at Hans and Eva’s farm and I really enjoyed my time there. Hans and Eva are lovely people and together with the other WWOOFers it really felt like home. The daily board games were really fun and all the meals we shared were amazing.
I learned a lot about young horses and how to work with them properly. I really enjoyed working with them whether it was trailer training, indoor training, riding or going for a walk.
During my stay it snowed and the farm looked like a winter wonderland. But due to that and some cold nights we couldn’t do that much of gardening work. Nevertheless I learned about how to harvest root beets, squashes and other vegetables and how to grow chillis and basilikum indoor.
I had a really good time with Hans and Eva and I would love to come back some day!
