Ecological small scale farm in Vänerns archipelago
Värmland
WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR MECHANICAL HELP.
All the spaces for regular wwoofing are unfortunately already booked and not available until after winter.
At the moment we only need someone who knows how to and likes to work on engines of older tractors. And who would enjoy to, for example, revise a gearbox. Our tractors are two Valmet tractors from the 80's and they need care.
If you are this mechanical fixer, please contact us!
Our gård (farm) is located at the tip of Värmlandsnäs, a peninsula in Sweden’s biggest lake Vänern. We have about 75 hectares of land, including a coastline at the water (with little harbour and an island), forests and fields.
We keep animals and we work with growing plants/crops/fruittrees/vegetables/tea-herbs.
We are working to achieve a high level of selfsufficiency and off-grid-ness by growing all of our food and renewing energy supplies (to solar and processing electricity from burning wood). Also we work on the cultivation of herbs and fruittrees, combined with a sheepfarm, for keeping the landscape open and for a modest supply of skins and meat. Our farm is certified ecological.
We moved to our farm in the spring of 2022 and are building it up again after the previous owners were retiring and already started downsizing.
We are: Maurice (55), Anneke (official name Joanna, 44) and our kids (16, 15) and our fosterchild (14) and our long-term volunteers Linard and Janneke (23). We speak Dutch, English, German and Swedish.
We had many Wwoofers in 2024 and 2025, and we are so thankful! Without them the place wouldn't be as beautiful, and we enjoyed to work with our Wwoofers very much.
We live happy together with a herd of 50 sheep (Gotland-sheep) we have 4 Black Angus lady-cows and one bull, 5 calfs, we have 4 horses that are retired trotting horses (one works with us in the forest), many chickens and we keep bees. All our animals live ecological. We grow their food on our lands, ecologically. The cattle and sheep go out to the fields every day and come back home before sunset, even in winter – unless the weather is not okay for them. The chickens have all the freedom they desire.
For fun we have some rabbits, a cat and a dog.
We have a big vegetable garden (1000m2) with greenhouse (200m2), and we grow fruit (+/- 200 young fruittrees were planted 2022) and tea herbs. We have a professional sawing machine for planks and we harvest wood from our own forests.
What’s so nice about our place: We are located almost in lake Vänern, Europe’s third biggest lake, which can be quiet like a mirror and wild like an ocean. We are located in Vänern’s archipelago, the biggest sweetwater archipelago of Northern Europe. The water here is great for swimming, sailing, kayaking, (kite)surfing and famous for fishing. This area has the highest amount of sun-hours of Sweden, summers are fantastic here. It is also a great place for hiking, you will meet moose, deer, badgers, beavers. You’ll see protected flowers like orchids, and many many birds.
In autumn the forests are great for mushroom picking, in winter we have snow and cold – iceskating is great on Vänern. The forests are beautiful when covered in white.
We could share knowledge in selfsufficiency, in keeping animals on an ecological and animal friendly basis, we have a lot of knowledge on vegetables, fruits and herbs, beekeeping.
Furthermore we could share information on moving to Sweden from another country.
Where you will stay:
In summer: in a tent. We have a camping forest near the farm with a covered outdoor kitchen (with dining area) an eko-toilet and outdoor shower. A bathroom is also available in our house, which can be accessed from outside.
Should you want to come with your own camper, that would be so welcome! There is space for a camper in the camping forest.
If you would like to plan an internship for your education in 2026, you are welcome to contact us. We have a lot of experience with interns from different European countries. Please write about the kind of education you follow and the dates that you would like to be travelling to us. We would love to have you at our farm!

September 2024
I spent almost two months at Lindegård and it was one of my best experiences ever. Anneke, Maurice and the kids are incredibly lovely and really made me feel like being home there. All together with the other wwoofers it just felt like a big family:)
The work I did there was very different, like cutting beams, gardening, mowing the fields, fencing, and many other things, so I was able to learn a lot.
Besides the work I enjoyed the campfires in the evening, the coffee breaks at the lake, the nice talks and just the beautiful nature.
I will never forget the wonderful time I had and hopefully come back soon!!!

I spent 4 lovely weeks with them both in Lindegård, even though the weather wasn't good for a while. It was a super cozy and welcoming atmosphere right from the start. At the beginning you will be asked whether you want to specialize in a certain part of work or not. If not, you just do what needs to be done; For me that meant working in the vegetable garden, working with the animals, building fences, etc. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

We had the chance to share 2 months with Maurice and Anneke and it was our best experience. They are adorable, generous and are always happy to share moments of life 🥰
Every morning we cleaned the stable where the cows and sheep live and also the horses' stable. We also prepared their hay. We then shared a coffee and talked about what projects we would carry out. During our stay we had our own projects such as building storage, or common projects such as renovating a greenhouse.
We always had a lot of fun while working. After the working day or during the days off, you could enjoy the beautiful harbor and its surroundings. We even had the chance to see lambs, chicks born and to be very close to animals.
For lovers of good food, this is the ideal place! Fresh products and good dishes (I will never forget the béchaMaurice 🤣), yum.
We felt part of their family, it was an unforgettable experience and we are really grateful to have been welcomed here 🤩
This farm is recommended at 100000%.
Thanks again to Anneke and Maurice, we'll come back soon to see you ❤️

This was our first wwoofing experience and coming here was the best decision we could have made!😊
We stayed for 6 weeks, so 2 weeks longer than originally planned.
Our daily routine consisted of:
- picking up freshly baked bread and breakfast
- starting our work at 08:30 or 09:00 o'clock
- cleaning the horses' and cows' stable
- getting new hay
- feeding the chicken and looking for eggs
After that there were different kinds of tasks, depending on what needed to be done, such as repairing and rebuilding the fences, expanding the stables or harvesting vegetables,...
Maurice and Anneke will sometimes encourage you to work independently and sometimes you will work together.
We often had tea and coffee breaks and if we wanted to, we cooked lunch which we always ate together. After that we either finished our earlier work or had time to do whatever we wanted to. We would ride the horses, cuddle the sheep or try to tame the rabbits and chicken. After dinner the day often ended with a fun game or just talking.
Because of Anneke's and Maurice's family and friends our wwoofing experience will always remain a special memory.
We will always remember the fun we had and are already looking forward to visit you again next summer.😊

We spent six amazing weeks at Lindegard! :)
While we were there we helped with taking care of the animals, which meant cleaning out the stalls, feeding them, capturing them when needed (which only happened like every other day) and also lots of cuddeling ;) If we wanted to we could also ride the horses.
We also built fences for the meadows, cut firewood and built a new stall for the sheep. We really enjoyed working and never felt too exhausted because Anneke and Maurice always made sure that we could take breaks when needed.
We spent our time there with 3 other Wwoofers and got to live in our own little house. Most of the time we ate lunch and dinner at Anneke‘s and Maurice‘s house and sometimes we cooked lunch for everyone. For breakfast we even got self-baked bread from Maurice (which was delicious!!).
The weekends were never boring because we could always come with Anneke and Maurice to visit their friends. One time we even organized a party which was a lot of fun!! Of course we could always go on a walk through the forest or to the lake as Lindegard is a place surrounded by beautiful nature.
The whole family was super kind and welcoming which made it very easy to feel comfortable. We always enjoyed having lunch together and spending time with everyone :)
Overall wwoofing at Lindegard was an amazing experience we can recommend to everyone. We are really grateful for all the memories we made while staying there and hope we can return soon! :) <3
