Family Farm at the edge of a nature reserve. Helping Nature Thrive with Gardens, Animals, and Trails
Västra Götaland
Welcome to our family farm nestled in the serene forests of Tiveden, halfway between Stockholm and Gothenburg. Our family Lisa-Linnea, Mattias, our 8 year-old daughter, and our 2 year old son, Sam invites you to experience life on the land, surrounded by nature, animals, and a variety of meaningful tasks.
Our farm is a diverse haven, home to horses, sheep, chickens, rabbits, and cats. We also manage a small B&B and are responsible for maintaining the nearby nature reserve, Högsåsen. With a vegetable garden, an agroforestry garden, and around 20 acres of pastures for our animals, our focus is on sustainable living, growing as much of our own food as possible, and enhancing biodiversity.
However, we can’t do it all on our own. Between our farm responsibilities and work outside the home, we need your help to bring our visions to life. Whether it’s tending to the land with scythe and axe, expanding our organic gardening efforts, or improving our practices for sustainability, your contribution will make a difference.
Activities may include:
Gardening and caring for plants in our vegetable and agroforestry gardens.
Feeding and tending to animals.
Maintaining and repairing buildings and fences.
Keeping the landscape open and diverse, including brush clearing and trail maintenance in the nature reserve.
Beekeeping, firewood production, and landscaping.
Horseback riding (if you’re experienced and interested).
A typical day begins with the morning animal check, ensuring they are watered and well. At 8:30, we gather at the farmhouse to plan the day’s tasks, which may include fencing, gardening, or brush clearing. Some tasks are shared, while others you may handle independently. We break for lunch, which could be at the farm or out in the fields, and then continue until around 3 p.m. After that, you’re free to enjoy the area—swimming, hiking in Tiveden National Park, or simply relaxing. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m., often cooked over an open fire during summer evenings.
Accommodations
You’ll stay in a charming house within the nature reserve, about 500 meters from our farmhouse. The house includes a living room, two bedrooms, and a kitchen. Water is available outside, and there are dry toilets.
Life on the Farm
Life here is vibrant and unpredictable. While we plan our days, unexpected events—like curious B&B guests, a loose horse, or a baby needing a diaper change—bring spontaneity and charm to farm life. Flexibility and a sense of humor are essential, as no two days are ever the same.
Join us for an enriching experience, where you can connect with nature, learn sustainable farming practices, and be part of our family’s journey toward living harmoniously with the land.

This was my third time as a volunteer, and I couldn’t have been happier. Lisa Linnea and her family were so warm, generous, and positive that I immediately felt welcome. I stayed for two weeks in early August and had such a strong sense of being close to nature—the farm is tucked away in a peaceful area surrounded by small country roads, forest, and open fields.
From the very first day, it was easy to get involved. We usually made a loose plan after dinner or during breakfast at eight. The animal care quickly became one of my favorite parts of the day—feeding and checking on them morning and evening, and often visiting the horses in between just because I enjoyed their company. Even though I’m not a very experienced rider, I joined a couple of calm rides with Lisa Linnea, which felt both safe and relaxing. I also helped with the five horses during the riding school sessions.
There was a nice balance between lighter and heavier work, as well as free time to unwind. Besides looking after the animals or crops, we sometimes worked together on bigger projects—like spreading gravel to improve the parking area or building and repairing fences around the pastures. Those days were more physical, but also really rewarding, especially seeing what we accomplished as a team.
I’d recommend this place to just about anyone—young people, families with kids, or older volunteers. There’s always something meaningful to do, and everyone can find a task that suits them.

My stay at Högsås gård was exceptional to say the least! It was my first time wwoofing and helping out on a farm and I am grateful it was here.
Lisa-Linnea, Matias, Ronya and Sam all made me feel welcomed and at home <3 The cabin I stayed in was nice, warm, clean and was nestled in a beautiful little area. We did so many cool things on the farm! From scything, gardening, building fences, berry picking, painting a food truck, caring for the animals, riding horses, etc. No two days were alike, there was always something fun to do. They always checked in and were accommodating which I greatly appreciated. The hours were very reasonable; I never felt overworked and they would often give a list of tasks so that you can work on something you were interested in. They were truly kind, funny and caring people. And the meals and snacks were so good!
We worked hard but played harder as we swam at the lake nearby, watched movies, played card/board games, talked, cooked together, cuddle with the animals, danced with the kids and hiked or biked around. Thank you for an unforgettable experience. I wish you all nothing but the best in life :)

We stayed with Lisa-Linnea and her lovely family for three weeks and we had so much fun! They were extremely welcoming and we felt very much at ease. The house at Högsåsen is cute and comfortable and the food was delicious. The kids spent plenty of time with the animals (taming the rabbits and chickens and brushing the horses) and helped caring for them. Lisa and Mattias were very open to our individual skills and preferences and we were always free to choose between different tasks. I did mostly gardening and Mattis did a lot of woodwork. Apart from that we did scything, raking, hay-making, berry picking, cooking, baking and a fair amount of displanting:) In the afternoons we enjoyed swimming in the lake, as it was very hot for most of our stay. Lisa even made it possible for the kids (and me) to ride, which was an awesome experience.

One week we were guests at the farm of Lisa, Mattias, Ronja and Sam. As a family we camped with our three kids (6, 8 and 10 years) close to their house at the very nice green of Högsåsen. Most of the time we helped in the garden with weeding and building the saunas outerspace. The kids were taking care of feeding and cuddling the animals or just played in the garden with the local and other „woofing“-kids. Their highlight was a horse riding trip with Buster, Flora and Harry.
All in all it was a big pleasure to be a part of the farm family, to spent also lessure time together and to share a lot of icecream.
Please keep your friendliness, energiy and humor until we are gonna be back.

I spent 6 amazing weeks at Lisa Linneas Farm:) It was my first Wwoof and the best experience I could’ve asked for.
Lisa, her husband Matthias and the two children are really nice and lovely people and I immediately felt like at home:)
The task where very different from each day and most of the days we could choose between them.
From building a platform, decorating a room, cutting trees, weeding or taking care of the animals everyone found something they liked.
They always made sure that everything is okay and cooked the best meals ever and there was always time for a break with some cookies:)
We could also borrow their car and we took trips to the national park, to the nearby lake oder a loppis.
Also the rides with Lisa, her daughter and the other volunteers were amazing!
And when I was sick they were really understanding and didn’t forced me to do any work or so.
I highly recommend them and would love to come back!:)

First time Wwoofing , and I couldn’t imagine a better place to start! Lisa Linnea and Mattias were welcoming hosts, who made each day enjoyable,
During my stay, I got the privilege of meeting and caring for all of the lovely animals, going on horse rides with Lisa Linnea and Ronja
The work was always varied and I was given freedom to work on the certain tasks that interested me, whether working independently or in a group I always felt supported.
In my free time I was able to visit the nearby lake for a swim, go on many hikes, and bike rides!
The meals were awesome! Whether cooked by Lisa Linnea, Mattias or other Wwoofers, definitely indulged in some of the best salads, I’ve ever had!
