Our main house and the orangery.
Our pond where we take time to relax and also use the water to watering the plants and the garden. Evening fog in our valley a summer night.

I'm Sofia, 37 years old and living with my husband Niclas and our two sons Enar (6 years) and Falke (2 year) on a small homestead. A few years ago, our family left the urban citylife and moved to the countryside to live a more sustainable life with nature just outside our door. We have large plans for our small farm but taking it step by step. We are in the start-up phase and doing farming in small scale, to learn, get knowledge and understand what type of farming we want to focus on. The goal is to be self sufficient on food, water, heat and electricity. Now, we have drinking water from a well, water for our garden from a pond, firewood for heating from our forest and electricity from solar panels. We are growing vegetables, herbs, berries and fruits. We breed rabbits and sheep to produce meat and skin for handicrafts. We just started with milk sheep and are excited to get milk this year. We have ducks and chicken for eggs and meat (the ducks also keep the slugs away!) We are keeping bees for honey and pollination. We also have a cat who hunt mice/voles and love to cuddle. We love to have WWOOFers staying with us, it is awesome to get to know new people and it often feels like they were a part of our family. It is also great to get help with daily chorus and projects. There are several tasks and projects you will work with: - Trim grass underneath electrical fence. - Pick weed in plantations - Cut bushes, chop wood, put wood to dry, make woodchips of branches. - Paint barn/animal sheds with traditional "Falu Rödfärg" paint. - Put up fence around pastures. - Build dead hedges. - Build structure for plantation bed. - Take care of animals (feed, water, clean boxes). Most of the tasks are relatively heavy, so be prepared for hard work ;) Usually, we have one Wwoofer at the time, so it's great that you appreciate individual work. We are looking forward working together with you, share and gather knowledge. It is helpful having more hands when carrying out larger tasks, since we have small children, either me or Niclas often need to watch the kids. We have room for one WWOOFer at a time. You will sleep in a single bed in a room in our main house . There is a toilet next to your room. You will eat together with our family: breakfast in the morning, lunch at midday and dinner in the evening. We appreciate if you take part in the cooking and preparation of the meals. We love nature and our farm is located in a beautiful valley where a river runs. Up the hill there is a nature reserve with plenty of lakes and deep forests. Swedish is our mother tongue and we are fluent in English. Niclas also speak Spanish and some German. Hoping to meet you on our farm Rabben!

This was my first wwoofing experience and couldn't have asked for a better one. Sofia and Niclas made me feel so welcome and taught me a lot! They also have 2 lovely children. They have a beautiful farm and I am grateful to have been a part of it.

A wonderful place to WWOOF! Sofia, Niclas and family were so lovely, patient and accommodating. I enjoyed all of my work on their land with plants, animals, and the wonderful nature they are surrounded by. Rabben is a beautiful place with many opportunities to learn and help grow a new farm!
