Market garden on the High Coast of Sweden
Västernorrland
Hej! My name is Jenny, I'm a vegetable gardener and my partner Tinh is a tree guy. Together we run a small farm with a 2000m² no-dig market garden. We used to have 300 laying hens in a mobile chicken house, but during the season 2026 we are taking a break from commercial egg production and only have a few chickens left. My child Nova (8) lives with us, as well as our cat Toph, and Novas bunnies, while my son Jari (13) visits us during holidays.
During a typical day, we take care of the vegetable garden (could be everything from preparing beds, planting, weeding, harvesting, weeding, watering, did I mention weeding? ;-) We also take care of the chickens daily (we are feeding and giving water to the hens, collect eggs, and move the hens house). Sometimes we have a building or renovation project (like building a walk -in-chiller or painting the house) going on, where you can help too, or preserve vegetables for the winter. On hot days we like to take a swim in the creek or drive to a nearby lake (with sauna). In the evenings we are up for board games or you can take a bath in our fire-heated outdoor bathtub. On Wednesdays is the delivery day for our vegetable subscription, where we pack all the veggie bags and deliver them to Härnösand in the afternoon /evening.
We eat breakfast and lunch together and mostly also dinner and take turns preparing meals. We have a small cabin by the creek with two beds (bunk bed), a house bus with 2-3 beds (one is a narrow bunk bed maybe suitable for a child, the other is a double bed), and a cozy camper. It's also possible to bring your own tent. We share the kitchen and the bathroom in the house (note that during really dry summer periods the well might run dry, that means compost toilet and camping shower).
I like hiking, dancing, baking, cooking jam and painting. Tinh is into knitting, playing piano and clarinette and sailing. The High Coast area is very good for hiking (Höga kusten leden) and the Baltic Sea is not too far away. The next bigger town is Härnösand with Museum Västernorrland among others.

We had a truly wonderful and welcoming week with Jenny and Tinhs.
We definitely recommend this woofing experience!
