We are Anthony and Christian, a couple in our early forties, living in the midst of the deep Swedish forests of Småland. We live on a little 9 ha farm in the nature preserve area of Lake Åsnen national park. We are ideally looking for an open minded and positive spirited person who would like to help us with painting the many houses on the property, gardening, tasks around the farm, this include feeding our animals, driving the tractor, helping mend fences and all that life at a farm requires. You should really love nature and the outdoors, since there is a LOT of it around here. In the area where we live there are many tourists around during the summer months, therefore it is a plus if you are a social person who likes to interact with different kinds of people and nationalities. You will get an in-depth feel for what it’s like to live and work on a Swedish farm, it does not get more Swedish and genuine than this area. Since we are a LGBTQ+ family you will have an opportunity to get acquainted with the Swedish queer culture. On our farm we have two cats, too many to count sheep, chickens, bunnies and one very magnificent peacock. We are ideally looking for an open and positive spirited person who would like to help us with gardening (during the spring-summer-autumn months we have a big vegetable garden) and tasks around the farm, this includes feeding our animals, driving the tractor, helping mend fences and all that life at a farm requires. Our passion in life is to grow and make as much of our daily food as possible ourselves, and we are continuously working towards being as self sufficient as possible, and we would love to be able to share this with you. We do slaughter our own animals and if you are interested in learning how this is done, we are glad to show you. If you would not like to partake in this, you may do something else around the farm while this is done. You will have your own room with a very comfortable bed, bed linnens and towels. You have a shared bathroom, all toiletry articles and toilet paper included. You will find high speed Wi-Fi at your disposal (phone connection is not ideal out here but calling via Wi-Fi works excellently.) We will provide all your meals and we will eat together. Anthony is on a gluten free regime, so we are used to providing all kinds of special dietary requests. We do eat meat but we enjoy all kinds of cuisine. If you like to cook, we do not mind at all if you would like to cook on occasion! We do drink alcohol, but do not accept other forms of drugs on our farm. We prefer non smokers, since we do not smoke ourselves, but it is possible to smoke outside. Things to do in your free time around here? See below. Our little village where we live has a café that serves coffee, food and has an alcohol license. The possibilities to bike, walk, run and swim around here are absolutely amazing, this is Swedish nature at it´s best. There are a lot of sights in the greater region, but since our farm is deep out in the countryside, you will have to borrow a car or a bike if you would like to go on a trip. Please bring rubber boots, a raincoat, clothes that can become a little bit dirty and maybe get a splash of paint on them, and of course a swimsuit for the sauna! In the evenings we like to read infront of the fire place, play board games or cards or watch movies together. We understand that we all need some alone time at some moments, so socialising every evening is not a requirement, but we do enjoy time spent together!

The nearest airport from us is Copenhagen airport (CPH) and it takes about two hours by train to us from there. The nearest train station is Älmhult, where we will pick you up, and then a 30 minute car ride to our farm.

I stayed in Toftahult for almost two months this summer, and learned a lot in my time there. The experience at Toftahult is very immersive, and it’s definitely the place for you if you want to learn self sufficiency and small scale farming. The workdays are long and there is always something to do, I personally loved learning how to drive a tractor, how to handle sheep (they are really the sweetest) and how to bake bread, along many other amazing things. There are some nice things to do in the area in your days off, the nature is simply stunning, and Christian and Anthony kindly brought us along to flea markets and other local events. Thank you for hosting me & please send hugs and kisses to the kitties ;)

I stayed at Toftahult for 7 weeks in September and October and had a lovely time! We were two volunteers who each had our own bedroom and we shared a bathroom. On the days where you‘re responsible for the animals work starts at 7:30 to feed all the animals and afterwards you have breakfast and a team meeting for the day‘s plans. We had long to-do lists and many projects so we always did something different every day (Except for some daily tasks like watering the flowers/trees and cleaning the service house). In preparation for winter we did some reorganising, harvesting and processing, picking apples and painting but also general things like moving the sheep, setting up fences, mowing grass with the tractor, watering the garden, cleaning the bunny cages and so much more! You can learn so much and Anthony is a great teacher who also gave us lots of life advice and trusted us with taking care of the farm, even without him sometimes. We usually tried to finish work after feeding the animals in the afternoon, so about 17:00-18:30. Then in the evening we had the loveliest vegan dinners thanks to Christian, who is a great cook and fun to be around. On my off days I liked to bike into the national park and enjoy the stunning nature or stay home and cuddle with the cats. I‘m leaving this place with many fond memories, new knowledge and inspiration to do some handy or gardening projects at home too. Thank you for a great time and I would fully recommend Toftahult!

O my my where to start… Simply put they made me feel at home. Toftahult is a small farm enclosed by forest runned by one of the kindest people I have ever met! I recommend going here as soon as you can to take it all in! Everyday was a new adventure, while also being clearly structured. It was always clear what we could do and Anthony takes the time to explain how everything works with such passion I admire. Thank you for teaching me all the machines, especially the tractor! Christian is captain indoor and cooks so amazing you will definately gain a few pounds before you leave. Everything is done with good communication about what you would/could do and you can take breaks whenever you need to. Thank you Anthony and Christian for opening your home to me!

"Toftahult, where we provide miracles." The former Wwoofer said this and it was true: Toftahult gifted me with a miraculous summer! I came ready to put myself to good use and eager to learn - and I wasn´t disappointed. I learned so many of the things I didn´t know I didn´t know. I have rarely felt this welcome before. Christian and Anthony are two of the loveliest people I have had the pleasure to meet. They truly value your input and your work, they´re always up for a joke and a good debate, and they make sure everyone around is comfortable. If something comes up, speak up - together you will find a solution. Workwise, I appreaciated how organized it is. Anthony runs a structured ship around here. There is a Sunday meeting for the weekly tasks and a team meeting in the morning for the daily tasks. The plan is printed out for everyone to check as needed. Tasks will be distributed equally and by preference . I loved the market garden, so I was allowed to take responsibility for watering the vegetables and putting the salads to bed (aka cover them fot the night). We were also encouraged to always ask questions and take breaks if and when we needed them. Christians cooking was so amazing, I still feel spoiled rotten. And I loved the magic houselhold, where chores magically disappear, because everyone naturally steps up. I loved all the small traditions and group activities we shared like dinner presentations and ice cream hauls! So, so much love for this place!! <3

I had a great time at Toftahult Gård and would definitely recommend WWOOFing there! Anthony and Christian are amazing hosts who are extremely welcoming and friendly. The farm, their projects, the discussions during the delicious dinners, and the way they run things are all truly inspiring. From the first minute, I felt at home and as though I belonged to the team. The activities were really varied — like working in the garden, feeding the animals, cleaning and driving the tractor — and I learnt so much. The surrounding area is great for swimming in the lake or visiting the café for 'fika'.
