Family farm in Sörmland with animals and a wish to grow our own food
Södermanland
Hej and welcome to our corner of the world, WWOOFer!
We who live at Stensätter Gård are Jeanette and Joacim, together with our son (20 years old with special needs, I will gladly speak more about this when we talk) and a colourful mix of animals – horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs. We're based in the middle of nature in Stjärnhov, Sörmland, creating a place where animals, people and dreams are allowed to take up space without needing to fit into any mould. We're not experts – but we have plenty of heart, will and humour, and we’re constantly learning. We cook vegetarian food and are happy to share thoughts, work and stillness with those who come here.
With us, you'll take part in whatever needs doing that day – often mucking out, fixing fences, feeding animals, carrying things, fetching water or clearing out old buildings. Sometimes we do brush clearing or build simple things. Chores will vary depending on weather an season.
We walk a lot, we don't have a ATV. For the very heavy chorses, for example move hay bales, we use a tractor. We are happy to teach you to drive it.
We aim to create an environment where both animals and people can thrive, and we're happy to share our views on animal care, connection and rural life. We're what you might call “moonlight farmers,” so it's a plus if you're independent and comfortable taking initiative – since we often work at our other jobs during the day (depending on when you visit).
You’ll stay in a simple cabin on the farm with a compost toilet and cold shower. There is no wifi in the cabin. We cook vegetarian food and usually share dinner together, sometimes also breakfast and lunch depending on the day. You’ll have access to a kitchen if you prefer to cook on your own. We plan the tasks together and aim to create a calm, respectful everyday life where everyone is welcome just as they are.
It’s important that you appreciate a simple lifestyle. In Sweden, it can be cold even in summer, so you need to be comfortable without a hot shower or flush toilet.
We both love music, Joacim plays the guitar and we like to sing (rather than whell) Jeanette loves being creative on a hobby level – painting, working with clay. There's a sea of sheep’s wool in the barn from the spring shearing, and it would be fun to learn how to felt a rug someday. The idea that the wool can be put to good use while the sheep continue their life in the pasture feels deeply meaningful.
Conversation matters to us – speaking about the big and the small. Everything has value.
Joacim prefers quiet evenings on his own.

My stay at Jeanette's och Joacim's wonderful Farm in the Valley near Stjärnhov felt like coming home to me.
Their heartwarming welcome, the peaceful calm life, with horses, pony's, sheep, goats, dogs, cats and chickens was a joyful harmony to be at.
The good care, decent food and connecting chats with Jeanette besides the relaxed and comic interactions with
Joacim who really combines humour with sharp insights and a variaty of projects, will be deeply honoured and memorised.
An unforgettable stay, which is highly recommendable for those who like some deeper engagement with nature, peace, animals and gardening on a remote cosy farm amongst a rushing world.
Thank you Jeanet, Jocke och specialt Edisson for your kindness & filling my heart with this wonderful experience ❣️
