Newly established farm producing our own food and working towards small-scale market gardening
Västra Götaland
We are three people: Elin, Emelie and Espen living together on a farm near Alingsås. We moved in here last autumn. During our first year, we have begun growing vegetables (for our own use), planted fruit trees and berry bushes, and are preparing a larger area of land for vegetable production next year. Our collective vision is to become more self sufficient, and we are having a lot of fun trying new things (some examples: making timber from our own forest, making rope from plant fibers, making cheese, preserving food in different ways). Last year, Espen did a course in market gardening and is in the process of starting a business, with the goal to start selling vegetables next spring. We also have twelve adorable ducks (to lay eggs and eat slugs) and an elderly cat.
This autumn our main projects will include: building a polytunnel, preparing new vegetable beds for next season and fencing the new vegetable growing area. There are many other activities to add variety such as taking care of the ducks, harvesting and storing vegetables, making compost, planting trees and bushes, carpentry projects etc. We are still new to this but would love to share what we have learnt so far and learn new things together!
We are looking for WWOOFers who are prepared to participate in our daily work, typically from about 8 am to 2 pm during weekdays, with breaks for lunch and coffee. The rest of the time is free, though you can of course join us in other activities round the farm if you like. We are new to WWOOF and will do our best to be good hosts, and welcome feedback.
We have a small cabin separate from the main house with one bedroom (two beds) and a combined kitchen (with fridge, microwave and stove)/living room. It is also possible to sleep in the living room on a sofa bed. There is a bathroom with a shower. The main house has wifi which you can use, though it doesn't reach to the cabin. WWOOFers will cook their own food in the cabin, though we might occasionally have dinner together.
We love to cook good food and harvest and preserve our produce. We mostly eat vegetarian food, but occasionally local meat and fish. Espen is a keen birdwatcher and Elin is mapping the biodiversity of the farm (plants, mosses, fungi, insects...), so this is a good place if you want to learn about nature! Emelie likes to wander the forest in search of edible mushrooms and berries. Elin does arborist tree climbing and has equipment you can borrow (at your own risk!).
We live just a few hundred meters from a lovely large lake, with a beautiful view from the cabin where you will stay. Here you can go swimming and fishing (bring your own equipment). We are at the edge of the large forested area Risveden, with several nature reserves and hiking trails.

November 2025
I spent over a week with Emelie, Elin & Espen. All of them has been so friendly and welcoming to me. I stayed in a cute little cabin that I shared with another WWOOFer, which was fun. The three cared a lot about us having enough food and handed us over some selfmade sourdough bread or vegetables from the garden. I learned so many new things. We built a big Greenhouse during the week and I was able to discover and try out my craft skills, which was so exciting. Other tasks I did was carrying wood or preparing garlic gloves for planting. The three always took care that I don’t work over my time and had 2 days off per week. I learned about fermentation and they gifted me some seeds that I can plant in my own garden next year. So thank you so much for your warm and welcoming way of being & all the best for your beautiful farm and all the plans you have with it!
PS: The dinner on the last day has been so so good, I‘m still dreaming about it! :D

We spent two wonderful weeks together with Emelie, Elin and Espen. The cabin we lived in is really cozy with a beautiful view of the lake.
Every day we worked at their farm was different. The tasks varied from planting bushes, harvesting vegetables or weeding to helping build a fence or raking leaves. They all made sure that we were not working for too long and had enough breaks. The ducks were the absolute sweetest, they were always interested in our work and were chattering the whole day.
We learned a lot in the two weeks we stayed at the farm. Especially learning about baking with sourdough, making kombucha and living an organic lifestyle was super interesting to us.
We can only recommend this place and experience the life on their farm!
