Hello! My name is Lena, and I’m turning 61 this year. My husband Anders (64) and I live on our organic farm. Our children Johanna (28) and Benjamin (26) live nearby, and Johanna works full-time on the farm together with me. We also have a wonderful colleague, Therese, who works with us 25%. We have a few animals around us as well: Johanna has a Vorsteh named Idun, I have a miniature schnauzer named Balder, and Therese has a Chihuahua called Lucy. Johanna also has a dressage horse, and we have other horses on the farm whose owners rent space in our stable. We have been growing organic fruit since 2015, and we produce beverages such as fresh-pressed juice and cider from the harvest. We also run a restaurant and a farm shop. A big part of our work is pruning old trees during the summer, removing older trees, and preparing areas for planting new ones. There is also plenty of weeding and grass mowing, although we use machines for much of that. We all help out wherever it’s needed whether that’s in the shop, the restaurant, the juicery, the orchards, or around the farm. We live in a large house, and the top floor is reserved for guests. There are three bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower. We eat together in the restaurant twice a day. Breakfast is served in the house, and fika is often brought out to the fields. We cook a lot of vegetarian food, but we also prepare meat dishes this is, of course, optional. We enjoy blues, rock, jazz, and cooking. We love walking the dogs and hosting our guests. We work almost all the time, so we don’t have much time for other activities, but we do organize festivals and markets on the farm, and we often bring live music here as well. I’m not very comfortable in any language other than English and Swedish and neither is anyone else on the farm.
