Hello, I'm Michael, an American living in Vittsjö, Swedens only Blue Zone, with my wife Amanda, who is Swedish, and our daughter, Zoe. My vision is to create a unique vineyard experience that blends viticulture with music, mushroom cultivation, Vegetables and wildflowers. There is never a typical day at our place, so much depends on the weather. We will be doing everything from painting, pruning, weeding, harvesting honey, planting or perhaps a little carpentry. Depending on our bookings, we offer housing at the house located on the vineyard or our hotelI/Inn. You always have your own private room and when we possible, your own private bathroom and shower in the room as well, though you might have to share a bathroom depending on the accommodations available. We usually start each day at 9:15-09:30. We will meet for breakfast at the hotel, pack ourselves a lunch and then head out to the vineyard where will take a decision on what is to be done that day. You are free to break whenever you want and we usually finish up by 14:30-15:00. If the weather is lousy, we usually break off for the day. You'll have 2 days off a week. We have 4 electric bikes which you are welcome to use to explore and find nice swimming spots in the area. Dinner will either be at the house or at the hotel. We do all of the cooking for you and offer as much as possible fresh from the vineyard. Depending on the accommodation that's available you might also have your private kitchen - let us know if this is important to you. Amanda and I have traveled the world extensively and have spent most of our professional life working as chefs. Music is very important to us which is one reason we play music for our plants year round. We are fortunate to live in a beautiful region of Norra Skåne surrounded by forest and small lakes. There is a wonderful golf course 3 kilometers from the vineyard. One of Swedens favorite hiking trails (Skåneleden) goes directly by the vineyard. The train and bus stop right here in Vittsjö and you can be in Copenhagen it just over an hour.

I could not have imagined a better experience staying with Michael and Amanda and wwoofing at the vineyard! They are such friendly, accommodating, fun, and thoughtful people. They make you feel part of the family. The private room at the cozy, well-located Inn along with the incredible meals was such a treat. The inn is located within walking distance to a bus stop, train station, grocery store, and beautiful lakes. Very easy to commute to and from via public transit. They also offer the use of nice quality e-bikes. The vineyard is simply breathtaking. Weeding, harvesting vegetables, taking lavender cuttings were a few of the tasks during my stay. With the classical music playing for the vines, it felt very relaxing. It was awesome to see how much visitors from near & far appreciate the tremendous work Mike has done to transform what was once open fields into a prosperous vineyard and farm. The property was filled with people enjoying the scenery and sharing its serenity when they offered food cart service on a sunny summer weekend. Huge thanks to Mike and Amanda for sharing their home, family & friends, fulfilling meals and conversation with me over a week. I will continue to follow their journey and I really hope our paths cross again!

*** My days with Michael and Amanda were fantastic - I felt so warmly welcomed. As hosts, they are thoughtful, kind, and flexible. The accommodation is lovely, with comfortable rooms and delicious food - they're both chefs, after all! :) Working in the vineyard while listening to classical music was a dream. Michael led the work in a clear, positive, and encouraging way, which made everything run smoothly. I would absolutely love to WWOOF with them again, and I highly recommend staying with them.

A week at the farm was one of the highlights of my year. I was hosted by Michael and Amanda, an inspiring couple who run both the vineyard and a hotel with love and dedication. Even with their busy schedule, they always made time to chat, and every conversation was fun, interesting, and full of new ideas. I stayed at a cute hotel with a cozy atmosphere and beautiful vintage character. The food was absolutely delicious. Most of my time at the vineyard was spent pruning the vines, which quickly became one of my favorite parts of the experience—especially with music playing through the garden every day. Michael also introduced me to the many amazing projects he's working on, from cultivating mushrooms to producing a variety of honey-based products. And the surrounding nature was simply breathtaking. One of my favorite memories was cycling through the lush green forests between Furuliden and the vineyard, or stopping for waffles and a cup of hot chocolate by the lake at a local cafe. I can't wait to return, and I want to thank Michael and Amanda once again for such a wonderful experience.

It was my first experience as a WWOOFer and Mike and his family welcomed me so warmly that I felt at home from the start. They were super kind and nice, and you can definitely feel Mike’s passion for his vineyard and the other projects he’s working on. The accommodation they gave me was comfy and relaxed, and the food was literally delicious (I’m still craving the Swedish salmon I ate as I’m writing this right now). Despite my not-so-perfect English, I was really able to connect with Mike and his guests during dinner, which made this experience even more special. I really really recommend it. Again, tack tack Michael, Amanda and Zoe :)

I cannot even begin to say enough nice things about Michael and Amanda, who were the most kind and accommodating hosts during my 10 day stay in Vittsjö. I wish I could've stayed longer, and I would fly all the way back to Sweden just to have the opportunity to visit here again. While they are new to WWOOF hosting here, you would never know, as it felt completely smooth and natural to work and learn from Michael and Amanda. What they have built here is truly special, and if you have the chance to stay, don't hesitate! The vineyard is a gorgeous place to work, and I can't imagine seeing it's beauty in full bloom. I really could go on forever, but trust me when I say you have to come experience this gem for yourself. I have so much gratitude for Michael and Amanda and left Sweden with a heavy heart and much to miss!
