Small homestead in nature
Halland
Welcome to a fully renovated farm from 1856, with ~20 hectares of land, and where we (Johanna, Bas and little Iris), are at an early stage in our journey to become self-sufficient. On our farm, we have various permanent fruit trees and shrubs (berries, cherries, raspberries, apples, pears, etc.), as well as plant beds (~100-200 m2) and a greenhouse (~30 m2) to grow our own vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, beets, salads, etc.). In addition, our chickens provide us with fresh eggs, and Gaia (our dog) and Tiger (our cat) try to keep guard on the premises.
Most of the farm's infrastructure (water, heating, electricity) is fully self-sufficient to reduce the reliance on 'the grid', which we continue to expand in the future through additional off-grid solutions (rain-water storage, batteries, etc). On the land surrounding the farm, we have grasslands, forest, a creek, several ponds, and seasonal free-ranging cows, the majority of which are maintained by a neighboring farmer. In addition, we have 2 horses on our farm, which help out with typical farm-tasks (e.g., pulling logs, planting potatoe-beds, raking gravel) as an alternative to more traditional use of a tractor.
Wwoofers can join us to learn a broad set of skills required to become self-sufficient, which includes thinking about design & planning (crop planning, cycling nutrients, watering), taking care of the vegetable gardens (sowing, planting, weeding, harvesting), gardening (using a scythe, pruning trees), simpler building projects (rain-water drainage, outhouses/sheds, painting), conserving foods (making jam, fermentation, brewing) and various other day-to-day chores (chopping up wood, chicken care, repair/maintenance).
We aim to be as structured/didactic in the projects we conduct to make sure you get out as much as possible of your stay, and we don't have any specific requirements in terms of skills from your side.
Wwoofers will have their own accommodation with a kitchen, fridge, toilet, etc. on our farm, as well as access to a yoga studio if they'd like to practice yoga, meditate, play piano, etc. We love to make music (guitar, piano, etc.), exercise (run, bike), and the surrounding area offers various other getaways (~15 km to the beach, ~8 km to the lake, ~1 km to "Hallandsleden" biking/walking route) and a variety of wildlife (crane birds, deer, owls, birds of prey, wild boars, moose).
Welcome!

I spent 1 month at Nackagård as my first wwoofing experience, and it was just magical! Johanna and Bas welcomed me into the life on the farm and the place quickly felt like home❤️. The two were so patient and nice when explaining the tasks and I learnt so many skills while being there! My days consisted of the perfect balance between work and incredible fika breaks, and Johanna and Bas always made sure to keep the work interesting and rewarding! They also made sure to understand where my interests layed and connecting those to the tasks of the day!
After work or during the weekends there is a lot of beautiful nature to enjoy around the farm and I loved going on walks and runs with Gaia the dog or hanging out with little Iris on the slide in the garden!:)
All in all I just i had the best time at Nackagård, I couldn’t have chosen a better place for a first time wwoofing and I can’t wait to go back and see all those incredible people again.
Johanna and Bas: THANK YOU!❤️

I am very grateful for the wonderful two weeks I spent on this farm! Johanna, Bas and little Iris are very heartwarming people that take great care of their guests, wwoofers, animals and garden.
The weekdays were a good mix of different kind of work (depending on what needed to be done around the farm or in the garden), lunch / snack breaks in between and your time off, where I liked to borrow a bike to explore the area.
The tasks were always well explained and Johanna & Bas would make sure to include your own interests as well.
The accommodation (a tiny cabin with it’s own kitchen) and the food / herbs from the garden were just the best.
All in all, I can only recommend to reach out to Johanna & Bas, so that you’ll hopefully enjoy some time on their farm yourself.
Thank’s again to Johanna, Bas and Iris! :)

We stayed with Bas and Johanna as a couple for 3 weeks and had an amazing experience! Bas and Johanna are great hosts and very welcoming people - they included us into their family life and made us feel comfortable being around them.
We found the work at Bas and Johanna's place to be fun, varied, engaging and very educational - we had quite a lot of independence on some tasks and they often gave us the option to the tasks we preferred, which we appreciated as it was clear they wanted us to have the best experience possible!
The location of Bas and Johanna's place is beautiful but fairly rural with no direct busses into surrounding towns. This means activities on weekends can be limited unless you cycle or walk to the nearest bus stop - which is very doable.
All in all, we really couldn't have asked for better hosts - Bas and Johanna are lovely to be around and we had an unforgettable time volunteering with them. We highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in learning about nature and interacting with animals.
Thanks again :)

I had the best experience with Bas and Johanna! It was so fun being here at the beginning of their journey on their new farm and I'm so excited to see how it grows in the future. They had a lot to teach me about permaculture, sustainable ways of living, and Swedish culture. On rainy days we spent our time preserving berries by brewing, making syrups, and exchanging dessert recipes :) Getting to cook straight from the garden was a dream. This beautiful family has such a lovely energy and I look forward to visiting again!

The time we spent at Bas and Johanna´s place was wonderful!
You can see that they are very passionate about doing all sorts of projects, love to share what they already learnt on their way and include you in deciding what you want to work on next. We also enjoyed all the other conversations we had on Swedish culture, living in cities versus countryside etc.
Our tasks included picking veggies and berries, making jam, sawing and chopping wood (after getting an introduction of course), weeding, cleaning their beautiful AirBnB and probably a lot more.
They made sure to always do enough breaks and prepared delicious lunches and fikas.
The surrounding area was perfect for a trip to Falkenberg (by bus or bike) and a nearby lake (by bike) but it is also nice to just relax on the farm for a bit.
We can only recommend you to reach out to them!
